The family, James "William" Connor, wife Demaris Isabelle (Belle) Moore Connor, and children Mabel Connor (b. about Aug 1880), Fred Clarence (born about Sep 1887), and Bessie (born about Jan 1890), lived in Burlingame from the 1890's until at least the 1920 census. I have been unable to locate them in any cemetery. Any help on cemeteries, marriages, etc., would be helpful. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Here's what I found; I think it all belongs to this family. Bessie CONNER (sorry but I think they changed the spelling of the surname, almost every reference I found was spelled with an 'ER') married Chancey R. BIXLER in Osage Co., KS on 10 Sep 1911. In the 1920 census Chancelor R. BIXLER, age 29, Bessie M. BIXLER, age 30, and children Oma B. BIXLER, age 6, Omar R. BIXLER, age 6, and Loyd (sic) W. BIXLER, age 6m, were all living in , Jackson, Missouri. I could not find them in the 1930 census. I did not find any marriage data for Fred Clarence or Mabel CONNOR, or CONNER, in Osage Co. In the 1930 census; William CONNER, age 77, is living with his son Clarince (sic) CONNER, age 41, wife Hazel M. CONNER, age 42, and their daughter Gertrude Fay CONNER, age 11 in Wharton, Wharton, Texas. William was listed as born Indiana abt. 1853, and both his parents were both born Indiana. This matches well with the data from the 1920 census when he was living in , Osage, Kansas. Also, Clarince (sic) CONNER was born in Kansas abt. 1889 with father born Indiana and mother born Iowa which also matches. So I think this is your Fred Clarence CONNOR. I tried to find this family in the 1920 census without success. (It's interesting to note that there is a family in , Matagorda, Texas with similar names and ages that keeps popping up in the 1920 census. The father is Clement F. CONNER b. abt. 1890, mother Hazel M. CONNER, b. abt. 1889, and daughter Gertrude F. CONNER, b. about 1911. Due to significant difference in the girls ages and the discrepancies in the birth places of the parents of Clement and Hazel, I'm pretty sure this is NOT your Fred CONNOR.) I was not successful in finding any burial data for any of this family. I looked on www.internment.net at all the cemeteries in the north end of Osage Co., KS with no luck. (There are three CONNORS burials in the Burlingame cemetery, two adults and an infant. They may be related. If you would like that info. I'll be happy to provide it.) I also searched www.findagrave.com for the entire US for William, James, Belle, Isabelle, Demaris, and Mabel with no success on any of them. Looked at the SSDI for the Fred Clarence CONNER and Bessie BIXLER and spouses, there are several Fred and Clarence CONNOR's and CONNER's listed. The best fit might be Fred CONNOR b. 07 Aug 1877 and d. Jul 1971 with last address of Daingerfield, Morris, Texas, but I couldn't rule out others. There are also several Hazel CONNOR's and CONNER's, none conclusive. (Beware the above CONNER's of , Matagorda, Texas as they show up here also.) Found a Bessie BIXLER, b. 24 Jan 1890 and d. Jan 1987 ( 97 years old is pretty good!) with last address Grand Prairie, Dallas, Texas. Highly likely she is of your family. Did not find anything for Chancelor/Chancey BIXLER. There is one Omar L. BIXLER, b. 1 Feb 1913 and died 22 May 2005 with last address of Searcy, White, Arkansas and a Lloyd BIXLER b. 1 Apr 1918 and d. 23 July 1992 with last address of Orange Park, Clay, Florida. Nothing on Oma BIXLER, but if married her name would change for the SSDI. A suggestion, is to contact the Osage County Historical Society (http://www.osagechs.org/research.htm). They have an extensive collection of obituaries back to the 1880s, with over 43,000 names and do research for a modest fee (see website for details on cost). Their on-line index lists six CONNOR obituaries including a William CONNOR and 3 CONNORS obituaries. Also, four CONNER and one CONNERS obituaries. Only William CONNOR appears to match your family names, but some of the others just might (?) be related and provide additional clues. Good Luck!
