    3. The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thurday September 20, 1883 Died, in this city, on Monday, September 12, 1883, Mrs. Fannie M. SMITH, 21 years, 3 months and 1 day. Deceased was the daughter of E. R. BARTLETT, deputy register of deeds of Osage county, and a general favorite with all who knew her. She was married some two years since to Mr. Jasper SMTIH, well known here, and immediately went with him to his old home in western New York. Last fall Mrs. Smith paid her numerous friends and relatives in this city a long visit, and on her return to the east she contracted a most severe cold, which rapidly changed into consumption in its most acute form. Everything that medical skill could do was done for her, but without avail, and a change of air being decided upon, they came to this city during the past summer, but to no avail. Last week a flying trip was made to the mountains in hope of relief, but the hope was vain, and they returned at once form which time she sank rapidly until Monday morning, when she died, although she held to life as a sween boon until the last moment. The funeral take place today and the remains will be interred in the Burlingame cemetery. All sympathize with the deceased parents, husband and relatives and feel that they have lost a friend. (The date of her age could be wrong. On my copy it looks more like 21.)
