Elmer CRAWFORD and wife and Irene visited, at Henry LAMOND's Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. CRAWFORD and family visited with Paul Crawford and family in Emporia Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J.O. SMITH spent Sunday at their daughters, Mrs. W. GOLDSMITH. Mr. and Mrs. George ALLISON motored to Topeka Sunday and visited relatives.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday June 18, 1925 Narrowly Escape Injury. M.D. WARNER and N.G. ELDER narrowly escaped a very dangerous wreck and probably serious injury, when they were driving east of town last week. On their way they met one of the "road hogs" that we hear so much about and who ought to be expelled from even being allowed to venture on the roads, who would not proceed to his side of the road when the two cars met. Consequently, Mr. Warner was forced to almost take the ditch, and had he done so, the aforementioned castatrophe, might have happened. At it was, N.G. Elder received a slight cut on his knee which was the only damage done.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday June 18, 1925 C. O. White and Family To Move Into Rouland House. Mr. C. O. WHITE and family, since selling the hotel will occupy Rouland house on West Emporia Avenue. As yet, the Whites have not decided what they will do, but we hope they will stay with us here.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday June 4, 1925 Elem RICE and family spent Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Rice's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John SUTTON. Miss Maggie RICE returned to Lyndon, Kansas, after spending a few weeks with Mrs. B.S. Rice of this city. Mrs. Joe JONES of Dodge City, Kansas, arrived last Thursday to spend a month visiting relatives and friends in Melvern. J.R. and J.S. DOOTY were home over Sunday. Sim accompanied them back to Humboldt to finish his service as an apprentice. Mrs. J.R. Dooty will join him in the near future and will serve as their cook. The Dootys' will be working about two weeks in Humboldt and from there will go to Vernon.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday June 4, 1925 Scott Valley Items. Maggie SIMMONS left for Kansas City last Thursday for a visit with her sister, Bertha. Word received from Beulah SMITH states that she arrived safely in California and enjoyed her trip. Mr. Dan SIMMONS and Dr. Salisbury took Charlie Simmons to Emporia last Wednesday where he had a tonsil and adenoid operation. They returned Wednesday evening and Charlie is getting along fine, tho it was hard to eat much but ice cream for three days. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford GARRETT and Eula Mae spent Sunday evening at Glenn SMITH's. Mr. Chester SMITH recently purchased a side delivery rake, and a hay loader, and will hay this summer in an easier way then heretofore.

John PLOWMAN and family, Elmer Hile and family and Harley Starr and family motored to Lyndon Sunday afternoon. Flem Rice was a caller at Dode McMillen's Sunday morning. Porter MARSHALL and John PLOWMAN called at Roy Sutton's Thursday evening.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday May 21, 1925 Sunday School Notes; Little Georgia Marie DOOTY place her two birthday pennies in the Primary bank and Donald Elmore his 11 cents in the Senior bank. Many thanks. The mumps and whooping cough are still the order of the day and keeping many away from Sunday school. We hope all will recover soon.

    3. The Melvern Review Osage County Thursday May 21, 1925 Mrs. Lorinda Moore. Lorina POISAL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Poisal, was born April 7th, 1938. She grew to womanhood in Clarksburg, Iowa, where she was married to George C. MOORE, March 15th, 1855. Four children were born to them, viz., William Henry, Alice Melissa, Walter Scott and Carrie Dell. Mrs. Moore outlived all of her children, the youngest, Mrs. Bascom Robbins, having departed this life Mary 12th, 1923. mrs. Moore resided in Kansas 53 years, 13 years of that time at Baldwin, 23 years at Melvern, where in February 1910 her companion passed to his heavenly home. Since then she has lived at various places, the last place 7 1/2 years. Mother Moore resided at the Masonic Home in Wichita from which she went for her crowning, Saturday afternoon, May 16th, 1925. Aged 87 years, 1 month and 9 days. Mrs. Moore became a christian in early childhood and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and remained faithful member during her whole life time. Mrs. Moore was a charter member of the Melvern Order of Eastern Star, the chapter having organized on her 50th birthday. She is a Worthy Past Matron of the Melvern chapter. Mother Moore is survived by an aged brother, two sisters, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a multitude of other relatives.

ALLISON and Mrs. Newt NICKELSON visited with Mrs. Joseph Allison Tuesday. Mrs. Nickelson is a sister of Mrs. Joseph Allison. Glenn ALLISON and Milton GARDNER motored to Topeka Saturday and returned Sunday. J.M. PORTER, J.M. DOOTY and W.E. HOOBING were in Kansas City to drive out some cars Monday.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday April 2, 1925 Birthday Party Owing to the fact that March 28th was little Billy GARDNER's birthday, his mother surprised him with a birthday party. The guests invited were as follows: Tyrus BARNHART, James CROSS, Wendell ALLISON,Mildren PORTER, Ione HOBSON and Evelyn WHITE. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served, after which all the kiddies enjoyed a motor car ride.
