The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday September 6, 1944 Mrs. Ella Randel Dies. Funeral services for Mrs. Ella RANDEL, 82, of Burlingame, who passed away on Sept. 5, will be held from the Methodist church in that city Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Burlingame cemetery. Mrs. Randel was the mother of Marshal Randel, of Emporia, who was a former register of deeds of Osage County several years ago.

THOMAS, seaman 1-c and Mrs. Thomas, of San Franciso, Calif., are the proud parents of a 7 pound, 1 ounce son, born on September 2, 1944, to whom they have given the name of Terry Bruce. Mrs. Thomas is the former Miss Phyllis FORD and a former teacher of Osage County. Her mother, Mrs. G.W. FORD is visiting the Thomas family at this time.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday August 30, 1944 George Kuykendall Dies. George KUYKENDALL, a brother of James and Charley Kuykendall and Mrs. Joe JENKINS, passed away at Fredonia, Kans., on Sunday night. The funeral services were held at Fredonia today.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday August 22, 1965 Robert Blair. Scranton.--Robert L. BLAIR, 85, Scranton, died Saturday in an Overbrook rest home. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Beulah May WARNER and Orpha Jane WARNER, both of Boulder, Colo., and Elva Eva GAGNELIN, Coffeyville; one son, Robert R. BLAIR, 3211 W. 10th; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme LEISHMAN, 2207 Martin Court, and Mrs. Sadie SUTHERIN, 737 Saline; and three brothers, Hunter Blair, 1031 Parkview, William Blair, 1708 Webster and George Blair, Sterling. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Scranton Methodist Church. Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame is in charge of arrangements.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday August 16, 1944 Mrs. Anna DICKENSHEETS, of Pittsburg, Kans., was visiting here with friends a couple of days last week. She is spending some time in Topeka and leaves this week on a visit to New York City. Mrs. J.L. JONES and brother, Emil LARSON were visiting at the Chester MILLS home north of Osage City Sunday evening. Mrs. Howard SCHRADER who has been a patient in the Stormont hospital for two weeks or more recovering from a major operation was able to return home a few days ago.

The Journal Free Press Wednesday August 16, 1944 Injured When Bike Collides With Car. Don, the 9 year old son of Mrs. Frank GREEK, of Burlingame, was a patient in the Stormont hospital in Topeka for a few days recovering from injuries received while riding his bicycle last Saturday evening and collided with an automobile. The accident occurred when the boy wheeled from a side road to the main road and although every effort was made by the driver to miss the boy and bicycle, the right front bumper of the car and wheel met.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday August 16, 1944 Improving From Attack Of Infantile Paralysis. Donald STANDIFERD, the 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Standifred, living south of Osage City, is improving very satisfactorily from an attack of infantile paralysis. He is a patient in the University of Kansas hospital in Kansas City, Kans., where he is receiving the Kenny treatment and the parents are very hopeful he will fully recover, although it may take several weeks. On Monday, July 31, the child didn't feel very well but not until the latter part of the week before it was determined he was suffering with infantile paralysis. The mother began the hot packs treatment in the home before going to the hospital and no doubt done a lot to check the paralysis. The many friends of the family and Donald hope he will soon be about as usual.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday August 9, 1944 Miss Helen DUNCAN of Kansas City, Kans., spent the week end as a house guest of Mr. Robert L. CORBIN, at the C.L. WALLACE home, north of town. Mrs. W.P. RANDALL spent a few days last week in Yates Center visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. CARSON. While there she attended the fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. CARSON.

The Journal Free Press Wednesday August 9, 1944 Dinner Honoring Staff Sgt. H.L. HANSON. Mr. and Mrs. Walter LEIGHTY and Agnes entertained with a dinner Friday night honoring Staff Sgt. H.L. HANSON, who returned last week from England. Staff Sgt., Hanson spent a year with the 9th Air Force and has completed 71 missions over enemy territory. Relatives present wre Staff Sgt. and Mrs. H.L. Hanson and daughter, Beverly June; Lt. and Mrs. W. E. Hanson, Drs. P.N. and Grace M. Hanson, of Peabody, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. H.R. SMITH, of Lyndon; Mr. and Mrs. Frank MARINO and daughters, Martha Leigh and Madelyn, Mrs. Eugene MARINO and daughter, Terry. Staff Sgt. H.L. Hanson and Lt. W.E. Hanson are nephews of Mrs. Walter LEIGHTY and Mrs. Hal SMITH. Lt. W.E. Hanson is with a medical evacuation unit stationed at Camp Barkley, Texas.

The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday August 9, 1944 F.M. Collier, express agent, and Mrs. Collier were called to Woodward, Okla., by the death of their 18 months old nephew, Wilbur Eldon. The child was the son of Mr. Collier's brother, Fremont W. COLLIER and wife and the telegram which was recieved Friday afternoon stated that the child had been drowned that day in a watering tank near the home. The telegram did not give details of the child's death. Mr. and Mrs. Collier left Saturday to attend the funeral which was held Monday afternoon. The Colliers will spend sometime visiting other relatives and friends before returning home. Woodward, Okla., is Mr. Collier's former home.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman SMITH returned home Monday from Lamar, Colo., where they have been for three weeks for Mrs. Smith's health. They have planned to move there, Mrs. Smith returning to Lamar Wednesday.(Reading.) John McCRACKEN underwent a major operation recently at the SBA hospital in Topeka.
