The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesdsay February 21, 1945 Mrs. John WATSON announces the marriage of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret LEWIS, to Mr. L.V. "Bud" HEROLD, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Herold, of Osage City. The marriage took place on Tuesday evening, February 13, 1945, at St. Patricks rectory, The Fr. A.H. Wietharn officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Louis WATSON attended the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Herold will be at home on their farm east of Osage City after March 1st.

The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesdsay February 21, 1945 Well Known Burligame Woman Dies. Funeral services for Mrs. R. J. SMITH, who passed away at her home in Burlingame about noon Tuesday, February 13, was held from the Baptist church in Burlingame last Friday afternoon and burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. A victim of arthritis her death ended many years of invvalidism. Mrs. Smith had gone to Detroit, Mich, early in November to spend the winter with her sister, Mrs. Floyd HATFIELD. An accidental fall a few weeks later resulted in injuries which aggravated her trouble and from which there was no improvement. In compliance with her desire and determination to return home, Mr. Hatfield, his daughter, Mrs. Dan Miller and Mrs. Smith's sister, Mrs. A.B. MILLS of Burlingame made the trip by car arriving in Burlingame about 8:00 o'clock Saturday evening.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday February 14, 1945 Thomas E. Lewis Dies. Thomas E. LEWIS of Lebo, died at 6:45 Tuesday morning, Feb. 7 at the Newman hospital at Emporia, Mr. Lewis had been ill only a short time. He was married To Grace RULISON, February 16, 1898 at Lebo, and she preceded him in death, December 12, 1942. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Charles KNIGHT of Lebo; five brothers, Will Lewis and L.E.G.A. Lewis of Lebo; Art Lewis of Parsons, Hugh Lewis of Wakina, Wash.; and Harry Lewis of Kansas City, Kansas. Mr. Lewis was an active member of the Methodist church. He formerly worked in the State Bank of Lebo and also owned and operated a hardware store at Lebo. He was clerk of Lincoln township at the time of his death. Funeral services were held, Saturday afternoon from the Lebo Methodist church, conducte dby the pastor, Rev. Fred Betts, assisted by Rev. E.A. Daines, of Oswego, Kansas. Interment was made in the Lincoln cemetery.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday February 14, 1945 Evans HANSEN arrived Wednesday evening of last week from Los Angeles, California, where he had been employed for the past few months. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hansen. Walter Hansen, who is at home in this city recovering from a back injury received while working at the Pauline Air Base a few weeks ago, was able to be brought up town in a car to a barber shop last Friday.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday February 7, 1945 Miss Wanda SMITH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Smith, of Miller and Pfc. Eugene PAXTON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe OSER, of Osage City, were married at the Methodist parsonage at Midland, Texas, by Rev. Wm. House. Their attendants were Pfc. and Mrs. Earl Baker. Miss Smith before her marriage has been working in the Intelligence Section at W.P.B. Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Miller high school. Mr. Paxton enlisted in the Army Air Force two years ago and is stationed at Midland, Texas. The couple will live in Midlan, Texas, for the present.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday February 7, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. J.R. WAGSTER, announce the marriage of their daughter, Bernice Lee to Lloyd Francis BRYSON, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bryson, of Scranton, Kans. The ceremony took place Sunday, February 4th, in the Chapel of the First Christian church, 18th and Washington, at Kansas City, Kans. The Rev. George I. Meyers, officiating. The bride was attended Trenton Schools and graduated from Trenton High school. She has been employed the past few years at the L.O. Graham Grocery. The bridegroom graduated from the Osage City High school and has been in the U.S. Navy for the past two and half years and is now stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Norfolk, Virginia. A wedding dinner was held at the Miller Tea Room in Kansas City, Kansas, after which the couple left for Norfolk, Virginia, where they will make their home for the present. Those attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bryson and sons, Scranton, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Wagster and daughter, Janet, and Miss Dorothy HUFF, of Trenton, Mo.; Mrs. Lee DUNN and daughter, Sandra, and Mr. and Mrs. George LIDMAN, all of Kansas City, Kans.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred ANSTAETT, living at the corner of Fourth and Holliday streets, observed their 61st wedding anniversary Tuesday, February 6. Owing to Mrs. Anstaett being in poor health the occasion was not celebrated. The Journal Free Press joins friends in extending congratulations.

The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesdsay February 7, 1945 Last Rites For John Nelson. Funeral services for John NELSON, who passed away in Trinidad, Colorado, on Sunday, Februray 4, will be held in Osage City on Thursday afternoon, February 8, at 3 o'clock at the McElfresh Mortuary, the Rev. Reuben P. Kron, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church, conducting the services. Burial will be made in the Swedish cemetery. Mr. Nelson was a brother of James NELSON, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Ellen CHRISTENSON, of Osage City and an uncle of Emile NELSON, of Osage City. He lived here a number of years ago and has visited many times since leaving and will be remembered by a number of people.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday February 7, 1945 Walter HANSEN who suffered a back injury on January 17, while working at the Pauline Air Base, and has been a patient in the base hospital since that time, is now at home in this city. He was brought home in an ambulance Sunday, recovering from the trip very nicely and seem to be recovering satisfactorily.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday February 7, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. A. NORWOOD were called to Neligh, Neb., a few days ago by the death of her sister, Miss Orie Van VLECK, which occurred Thursday, February 1. The funeral services were held in Neligh on Saturday afternoon.

Miss Wanda LEWIS, teacher of District 52, went to Kansas City with her parents last Tuesday, as Mr. Lewis was on the market with fat cattle that day. (North Miller.)

DORMAN of Cherryvale visited relatives in Osage CIty overnight Tuesday. Mrs. Frank SMITH, son and daughter, Gene and Betty, of Carbondale, visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. RANDALL Tuesday evening. Gene Smith has recently received his commission as an Ensign at the Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday January 24, 1945 Wiemers Receive Letter From Son Who Is Prisoner Of War. A letter was received by Mr. and Mrs. George WIEMER, of Olivet, on Tuesday from their son, Pfc. Jacob G. Wiemer, who has been a Japan prisoner of war the last three years. The letter written April 13, 1944, is the third letter they have received. The letter with the heading, "Pfc. Jacob G. Wiemer, U.S.M.C, Bks, 1, Sec. 7, Shanghai War Prisoner's Camp." is as follows: Dear Dad and Mother-- I have just received your letters and it sure made me feel good to hear that you are all well, and also received the pictures that Minnie sent. Alise said in of her letters thats Dad wanted to sell out. I think that you and Dad should and take life easy. She also said that Dad bought another farm. Tell Louis and Alise and Minnie and all the other kids hello for me and tell them I am Okay. I hope to be home very soon. As ever, your loving son, Jacob. A postal card probably written after the letter said he was all right and still looking forward to coming home.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday January 24, 1945 Walter Hansen Improving. Walter HANSEN, who suffered severe back injuries while working at the Pauline Air Base last Wednesday morning is still a patient in the base hospital but is reported improving. We understand he is being removed from the base hospital this week but we have not learned whether he will be removed to his home in Osage City or another hospital. However he will be a bed patient for sometime.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday January 17, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. George McCAIN are the parents of a girl, born Wednesday morning, January 17. The child weighed 8 pounds and 6 1/2 ounces at birth and has been given the name Margaret Joan. Mrs. McCain and infant daughter are patients in the Newman hospital at Emporia.

THOMAS, of San Francisco, Calif., with the U.S. Coast Guard, came Thursdya to spend a short furlough at the George FORD home and the Mike Thomas home in Pittsburg. Mrs. Thomas and baby Terry will return home with him.(Riverside.) Buddy and Ronny EVANS are having a siege of the flu.(Riverside.) Miss Ethel BEEMAN, Mrs. Homer JONES, Mrs. Ira SMITH, MRs. R.P. HOGLUND, Mrs. Ralph DUNCAN and Tom WIMMER motored to Topeka Thursday night to call on Mrs. C. W. SANDERS, who is a patient in Christ's hospital.
