Mrs. True before her marriage was Miss Evelyn JOHNSON. Sgt. True is serving in the armed forces overseas.

The Journal Free Press Wednesday March 14, 1945 Attacked by Cow. H.O. SIMMONS of the Simmons Dairy is confined to his home in the northwest part of town, suffering with a fractured collar bone in two places and plenty of bruises caused when he was attacked by an angry cow Wednesday of last week. Mr. Simmons entered the feed lot about 5 o'clock in the morning when it was yet dark and the cow headed straight for him, knocking him down and walking over him. Luckily when he was knocked down he gave a yell and frightened the cattle and the other cows ran and she joined them. It will be some time before he will be about as usual.

ADAMS, of Atwood, Kans., recently was awarded a second Oak Leaf Cluster and the Bronze Star for heroic achievement in action on the Fifth Army front in Italy. He is a member of the 338th Infantry Regiment of the 85th Cluster Division. Sgt. Adams is the son of Mrs. Annie Adams of Colby and a brother of Mrs. Carl HALBERG of Burlingame

Mrs. Harvey WRIGHT received a letter from her husband, Pvt. Harvey E. Wright, who is serving with the U.S. Army overseas, in which he enclosed some English money. The piece of paper, Pvt. Wright wrote his wife, has a value of $2.00 of American money.

The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday February 28, 1945 Casebier--Smith. Miss Betty Allyce CASEBIER the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Casebier, of Reading and Sgt. Richard H. SMITH, son of Mrs. Edith Smith, of Endicott, N.Y., were married February 14 at Kansas City, Mo. Sergeant Smith, who is in the Army Air corps, has been stationed in Kansas City the past several months. He left February 15 for Greenwood, Miss. Mrs. Smith is a graduate of the Reading high school and has been employed the past three years in war plants in Wichita and Kansas City.

The Journal Free Press Wednesday February 21, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Walter HANSEN and son, Evans Hansen, went to Pauline Saturday where Mr. Hansen received medical attention at the Army Air Base hospital. Mr. Hansen continues to gradually improve from his recent back injury.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday February 21, 1945 Gus LOHMEYER has purchased the L.W. SILVEN property, corner of Fourth and Lincoln streets, and will move his family to Osage City soon. E.A. SCHRADER, who has been quite ill for a few days is improving. Jess EVANS who is with the Armed Forces in Virginia spent the first of the month with his wife and children at Colby. Last Sunday they came for a short visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. SAFFER and Mr. and Mrs. Sam EVANS. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Evans and family left early Monday for Virginia where he will resume his work and his wife and children will live there temporarily to be close to him.

Miss Wanda LEWIS teacher of District 52 gave a Valentine program Wednesday afternoon. After the program refreshments of cookies, fruit salad, and cocoa wer served.
