    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday June 13, 1945 Burlingame Man Suffers Severe Face Injuries. Bill YOUNG, of Burlingame is a patient in the Security Benefit hospital in Topeka recovering from injuries and burns of the face which he received one day last week while doing some welding on an electric refrigerator. At first it was feared he would lose the sight of his eyes but the relatives report his eye sight will be saved. Mr. Young is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Sam FENDER.

    3. The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday June 13, 1945 Has Four Sons In The Service. The name of J.G. TRUE, RFD No. 2, Ozawkie, has been added to our mailing list. Mr. True and family lived here for a number of years, Mr. True operating a produce station and enjoyed a large volume of business. Mr. and Mrs. True are the parents of a fine family of children they may well feel proud of. Some members of the family are graduates of the Osage City High School and two sons chose Osage City girls for wives. Kenneth married Katherine BOLINE, daughter of Mrs. Oscar Boline. The live in Holton, where Mr. True owns a drug store. The have two children. Phillip married Miss Evelyn JOHNSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Johnson, of Rapp. Tech. Sgt. Philip TRUE is serving with the armed forces in Hawaii and his wife and small daughter are at the home of his her parents west of town. Besides Sgt. Phillip True, there are three other sons, of Mr. and Mrs. True serving in the armed forces, Pvt. John TRUE is with the U.S. Infantry on Okinawa; Sgt. Joe TRUE is with the U.S. Army somewhere in Germany and Raymond TRUE, S. 2-c USN, is somewhere in the Southwest Pacific.

    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday June 13, 1945 Wayne M. KUYKENDALL, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude J. Kuykendall, Osage City, was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve when he graduated recently from the Naval Reserve Midshipman's School at Abbott Hall, Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill. His completed four-month course consisted of instruction in naviagation, seamanship, damage control, communications, ordnance and gunnery, in addition to which he underwent a strenous physical conditioning program and numerous drills designed to develop initiative and leadership. The newly commissioned Ensign will now see action with the fleet as a deck officer.

    3. The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday June 13, 1945 Mrs. Amos Nelson Died Wednesday. Mother of Mrs. Chloe Barber Passes Away Here After Illness of Long Duration. Mrs. Amos NELSON, 71, who has been ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chloe BARBER the past several weeks, departed this life (Wednesday) morning. She has been in poor health the past several years, bearing her suffering with much patience and always appreciative of the tender care administered her by her husband and children. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson moved from their farm near Bushong a few weeks ago to the home of their daughter in Osage City. Funeral services will be held at the church in Bushong but the services are not completed, awating word from the grandsons in the armed forces.

KNIGHT, of Osage City. The marriage took place in Emporia, Kansas on Friday, June 1, at the Court House. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaniper, of Miller. The bride graduated from the Harveyville High School with the class of 45. The groom is employed at the supply depot in Pauline. The happy couple will make their home in Osage City. Their many friends extend congratulations and best wishes.

Mr. and Mrs. Minor will be at home in Arlington after June 16.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Friday December 20, 1918 A.C. French Dies. Word has been received in Topeka of the death of A.C. FRENCH, of Harveyville, who died Wednesday at his home from influenza. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. T. R. MOSS, of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. E. L. ANDERSON, of Dover. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. French had lived in Kansas for more than forty years, having come to the state from Ottawa, Ill., where he practiced law. He lived in Topeka several years before moving to Harveyville.

Mrs. Lonnie THOMAS departed this life Sunday, May 27, having attained the age of 94 years, 2 months and 4 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katie PAULSON, in Herrington, Kans. Besides Mrs. Ellen SLUSSER, of Osage City, she is survived by one other sister, Mrs. Charles THOMAS, also of Herington and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ellen Slusser accompanied by Albert Slusser attended the services last Tuesday at Herington. (Note: Typed as printed in newspaper.)

    3. The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday May 16, 1945 Last Rites Held For Orrin W. Nicolay. Orrin W. NICOLAY was born near Scranton, Kansas, the 17th of May, 1185 and died at his home in Topeka, Kansas, May 5, 1945, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 18 days. He wa a member of the Men's Fellowship Class and the War Dads in Topeka, Kansas. On April 8, 1915 he married Gerturde JOHNSON. To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters. Except for two years spent near Dodge City, Kansas, shortly after his marriage, his entire life was lived in the vicinity of Osage county and Topeka, the last six years having been spent in Topeka. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, Mrs. Orrin Nicolay; daughters, Mrs. Harold WATSON, Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Ralph PETERSON, Osage City, Kansas, Anna Laura and Audrey Nicolay of the home; sons, Kenneth and Richard Nicolay, both in the USMC overseas, Vernon and Robert at home; three brothers; Iil Nicolay, Hawthrone, Nev., Mervin Nicolay, Pomona, Calif, and Jacob Nicolay, of Fall River, Kans.; three sisters, Mrs. J.W. ANDERSON, Leonardville, Kans., Mrs. John LANE, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. H.D. NICHOLS, Osage City, Kans.; grandchildren, Rebecca Ann PETERSON and Harold Everett WATSON. All of the above attended the funeral services which were held in the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary, Topeka, Kans., and the Mission Covenant Church in Osage City, Kansas, May 8, 1945. Burail was made in the Union cemetery, Osage City, Kans.
