    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday July 11, 1945 Dale LOHMEYER, who disposed of his farm property at public sale last Friday began work a few days ago at the Goodyear Rubber plant in Topeka. Although they have purchased a home in Topeka, until August 1 they are living temporarily at 1917 Clay street.--Burlingame Enterprise. Mr. and Mrs. Howard PLACKETT of Kansas City, Mo., were visiting here over the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Oscar ANDERSON and other relatives. Mrs. Amanda MORRIS and daughter, Miss Irene MORRIS spent Monday in Topeka visiting with Miss Mary HOTHAN, of Lyndon, who is a patient in the Stormont hospital recovering from a fractured hip.

THOMAS, of Lyndon, attended the morning services at the Methodist church Sunday where their granddaughter, Karen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard WILDMAN, was a candidate for baptism. They were also dinner guests in the Wildman home following the services, the occasion honoring the first birthday anniversary of Karen. Mrs. Griff THOMAS, who has been visiting near Parma, Idaho, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Verl BISHOP, husband and two children, and also her son Carroll, is expected home this week.

RANDALL home was enjoyed by a group of former friends of Mr. and Mrs. John MADDREN, of Fairbury, Neb., who were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Randall a couple of days last week. The party was held Wednesday evening.

    3. The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday July 4, 1945 Mrs. A. RAWLINGS has received the announcement of the marriage of her granddaughter, Laura E. TYLER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Tyler, of Portland, Ore., to Mr. Nelson J. MOORE, U.S. Navy. The wedding took place in Long Beach, Calif., on June 15. Mrs. Moore lived in Osage City with her grandmother and attended the Osage City High School one year and will be remembered by some of our people.

    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday July 4, 1945 Mrs. Bill MORRIS and Miss Martha MORRIS of Mt. Olive, Ill., were visiting in the home of Carl COLSTROM and family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank SMITH entertained the following guests in their home last Thursday: Mr. and Mrs. Walter PLACKETT and daughter, Mary and son, Petty Officer Earl Plackett, who was home on leave. Mrs. Frank Smith is a sister of Mr. Plackett. Petty Officer Earl Plackett enlisted in the armed forces when he was 17 years of age and this is his first leave. He has been oversea three and one-half years. Mrs. Verl SMITH and daughter, Elaine of Topeka, spent Thursday and Friday in Osage City visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith.

    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday July 4, 1945 Mrs. W.O. NICOLAY of Topeka has received word that her two sons, Pfc. Kenneth H. Nicolay and Pfc. Reinald I. NICOLAY, of the Marines, have met on an island in the South Pacific. Pfc. Kenneth Nicolay learned of his brothers' whereabouts through the Red Cross. Pfc. Reinald Nicolay is seriously ill in a hospital on the island.

Here is the obit for Annie Lander, posted in the Burlingame (KS)Democrat on10 Feb 1885: DEATHS -- LANDER -- At the Presbyterian parsonage, Burlingame, Saturday, Jan 31st, at a quarter to five in the morning, Miss Annie B Lander. Pastor Lander, sccompanied by his wife and sister Maggie, left with the remains on the Saturday night train for Malta Bend, Mo., where the funeral took place. In compliance with the earnest desire of the deceased expressed some time previous to her death. Miss Maggie Lander arrived here from Winchester, Ky., last Friday morning and was by her sister's bedside until she breathed her last.     3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday June 20, 1945 We learn Pfc. Thomas M. EVANS, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.R. EVANS, of Lebo, who was wounded by sharpnel while serving with the Infantry on Okinawa, April 29, 1945, is now in a convalescent hospital and will probably be released to go back to his company about July 1st.

    3. The Journal Free Press Wednesday June 20, 1945 Sgt. Robt. Duncan and Ph. M. John Neff Receive Honorable Discharges. Sgt. Robert DUNCAN, who has been in the armed forces four years and four months, very pleasantly surprised his wife and two sons when he arrived home Tuesday afternoon, stating he had received an honorable discharge and was home to stay. Sgt. Duncan was accredited with 112 points having five battle stars to his credit and twelve months overseas service to run the points up. While overseas he was in England, France, Luxemburg, Holland, Belgium and Germany. The many friends of Bob welcome him back home. Another Osage City boy has received an honorable discharge from the armed forces and is home with his wife and small daughter, Susan. John NEFF, pharmacist first class, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August, 1942, has received his honorable discharge. The last thirteen months he has been serving on an L.S.T. training ship off the Atlantic coast. John plans to attend Kansas University and with his wife and daughter will leave soon to make their home in Lawrence. Welcome Home, John.
