The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday Novemb28, 1945 Frank Crawford's Sister Dies. Frank CRAWFORD was called to Emporia by the death of his sister, Mrs. Allie HAAS, which occurred in an Emporia Hospital November 24. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Emporia.

I believe, but it gives a date to the Elmer you are looking for. Located in the news of Frederick County Towns. The Frederick Post, Frederick, Maryland. Friday September 17, 1915. In column 5,caption 5, Baby A Spelling Wonder, Quenemo, Ks. Sept 16th. As a rule a child of three and one-half years has hardly mastered the A B C'S and knows very little or nothing about the art of spelling. But that is not the case of Elmer Jenks, the three and-a-half-year-old son of Dr.and Mrs. E.E.Jenks of this city. In addition to being thoroughly acquainted with the alphabet, Elmer recently spelled a list of 242 words without making a mistake. Mr. and Mrs. Petty LOHMEYER entertained with a dinner Sunday in honor of Jacob WEIMER, who is home after spending three years and eight months in a Jap prison camp. Those present besides the honor guest were Mr. and Mrs. George Weimer, Louis Weimer and children, Kenneth, Vernon, Ernest and Edna; Orville MOSSBARGER. Mr. and Mrs. Lee LOHMEYER called in the afternoon. (Note; Typed as printed in newspaper.)
The Journal Free Press Wednesday November 7, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Josh THOMAS are moving to the Floren Calkins residence on Holliday street. Mr.a nd Mrs. Calkins and son have moved to Havensville. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas have been living in the Mrs. Elizabeth FRENCH home on Ellinwood street and are vacating as Mrs. French and son, who have been living about three miles northeast of Olivet, are moving to Osage City. They had a public sale last Wednesday. Miss Jackie CURLEY who has employment in Topeka spent the week end with home folks here.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday October 31, 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Earl WASHBURN are the parents of a boy, born Sunday, October 28, weighing four pounds and twelve ounces at birth. The child has been given the name of Albert Earl. Mrs. Washburn and infant son are at their home in Osage City.

PLACKETT, Mr. and Mrs. Howard PLACKETT and Mr. Dean Plackett, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. and Mrs. Fred CROUCHER, Glen and Melvin, who is home on a 13-day furlough from California. Melvin is in the Navy.
The Journal Free Press Osage County Wednesday October 31, 1945 Mrs. Hans C. CHRISTESEN announces the marriage of her daughter, Harriet, to Orvan E. MOORE, of Akron, Ohio. The marriage took place Saturday morning, October 20, 1945, at 10 o'clock at the Presbyterian manse, the Rev. J.H. Faurot officiating. The bridal couple was attended by Mrs. Harold Christesen and Mr. Eldon Christesen, sister-in-law and brother of the bride. The bride wore a blue wool dress with brown accessories and carried the same silk handerchief her mother carried at her wedding. The groom wore his uniform. Mrs. Moore is one of Osage county's successful rural school teachers and is employed as teacher of the Peterton school. Mr. Moore was inducted into the Army in 1941 and has just returned home after spending forty-five months in the Pacific. He has been honorably discharged from the Army. He is the son of Mr. Henry Moore, of Akron, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Moore left Saturday for Ohio to visit Mr. Moore's relatives. Mrs. Moore has been granted a three week's leave of absence from school.

Mrs. Margaret DAVIS, living south of town, received a message that her son, Thomas Raymond DAVIS, 38, of Superior, Wyo., was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday. he leaves a wife and two sons of the home. As we go to press no funeral arrangements have been learned. Roscoe Davis, a brother, left this (Wednesday) evening for Wyoming.

The Journal Free Press Wednesday October 17, 1945 Member of Winnetaska Organization. Eva LEWIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Lewis, Osage City, is a member of Winnetaska, independent women's socal organization at Emporia State Teacher's College. Miss Lewis is a junior at Emporia State, where she is working for the Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Miss Lewis has taught at Barclay, Osage City and Lebo. She is a graduate of Lebo High School.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday October 3, 1945 Jacob Weimer To Be Home This Week. Jacob WEIMER, who was recently liberated from a Japanese camp and arrived in the states about a week ago, called his parents from Norman, Okla., Monday morning, where he was a hospital patient and stated he was all right and would be home this week, possibly by the middle of the week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Weimer of Olivet, and was taken prisoner by the Japanese on Wake Island, December 24, 1941. Only three or four letters from him had been received by his family during the past 3 1/2 years. Mrs. Weimer went to Norman today to accompany her son home.
The Journal Free Press Wednesday October 3, 1945 Pfc. Arlie W. SMITH, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith, of Richland, formerly of Osage City, is expected home about the 10th of October with an honorable discharge. He has been in the service almost four years, three and a half of which he served overseas. he served with the 27th Infantry Division, which took part in the battles of Gilbert, Saipan and Okinawa Islands. He has never had a furlough since he left home. He called his parents from Camp Logan, Colo., Saturday evening. A brother, Cpl. Wilmer E. SMITH, with the 280th, 2nd M. Co., in Italy, has enough points for a discharge and is expected home sometime this fall. He has been in service three years and a half years, with two and a half of this time overseas. He has never had a furlough since entering the service. Another brother, Albert SMITH, AM2-c, has been in service two and a half years and is now stationed at Norfolk, Va.
