    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: cjlaird Surnames: Jenks, Slack Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/555.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you so much for the article information. I've never heard about the news piece on the spelling whiz before, but have seen some information on the book listed online as an out of print item. E E Jenks was the 1st husband Mattie Slack, one of the sisters of my husband's Slack ancestors, and his older brother Orlo Jenks was married to Hester Slack, sister of Mattie. E E and Mattie Jenks were married in Dec 1883 and had 3 children. They divorced in January 1903, but getting the court record on it has been thwarted by the fact that the courthouse records were all wiped out prior to 1921 by flood here. I have been trying to finish up the research on E E Jenks & figure out where he went & what he died from. Seems like all the men in his family, save for one brother, died before age 60 - and that being the case, it doesn't seem like his words of wisdom helped him much. What is available in your area that would indicate about when he might have moved up there? Was there any obituary that you know of? Thanks again - Claudia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
