The OCHS obituary index has three entries for Matthew Thompson Headington, probably different papers or dates of pub. Also, has Mrs. Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie" Headington (she is also indexed under Elizabeth Jane Smith) and an 'infant daughter' Headington. I think all of these are probably of the family you're researching. In addition, there are obituaries for W. M. Headington and Bazil Headington relationship, if any, unknown. You can see the index at http://www.osagechs.org/OBIT_MASTER_INDEX.htm which also has instructions/cost for requesting copies. 3. I show a M.T. Headington marrying Lizzie Smith on Jun 4, 1893 in Osage Co, KS; Book E, page 299. I believe that is within the range of dates for which images of licenses can be found on FamilySearch.org under Kansas Marriage licenses. 3. By the way, I think your Matthew Headington may be from Knox County, Ohio, the son of Thompson and Sarah Headington. The Headingtons were related to some of my Hardesty relatives in Knox Co. Both families came to Ohio from Maryland. 1. [KSOSAGE] New Osage County research website
    2. Sheryl McClure
    3. Hello all- As part of my "Kansas History and Heritage Project," I have created a website for Osage County: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ksosaghp/index.html My new, free website features: 1918 Patrons' Directory; 1894 G.A.R. posts and rosters; 1889 business directory; 1876 marriage records; 1899 plat maps (all townships); 1879 township and business directories, Danish immigration records, 1886 and 1914 physicians' directories and more. I hope you will have a look at my new website, and if you have any corrections, suggestions, questions or want to contribute pictures or data, I will be happy to hear from you. I am moving on to my next county in the project, but I will come back to Osage from time to time to add data, so please bookmark this site. I will announce any major additions of data on this list. Osage is the 34th county in this project--only 71 counties to go! I hope to have all Kansas counties online with the next two or three years, but until I can gather enough data for a specific county, I will store the files for that county on the state website: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kahhp/index.html This website houses also statewide information (such as maps, military histories, college files, etc.) as well as serving as a repository for data for the "orphan" counties, and links to counties that do have their own sites. Sheryl

Here's my LEWIS data, under the slight chance we might have a connection. My 2nd greatgrandfather was David LEWIS b. abt. 1796 in Maesteg, Glamorgan, So. Wales. His wife was Mary DAVIES b. abt. 1800 same locale. They married Nov 8, 1833 in Caio, Carmarthen, Wales (sic, this is the marriage info as posted on FamilySearch.org in an ancestoral file, but it does not look right based on the children's birth dates) and had six children that I'm aware of: Thomas LEWIS b. 22 Apr 1822, d. 9 Aug 1910 in Osage City, KS,USA; Lewis LEWIS, b. abt. 1824, d. Unk.; Jane LEWIS, b. 1826, d. abt. 1919 in Wales; David LEWIS, b. abt. 1829, d. Unk.; Elizabeth LEWIS, b. 15 Oct 1832, d. 31 Dec 1898 in Wilkes Barre, PA, USA; and my g-grandfather Henry D. LEWIS b. 8 Jan 1835, d. 18 Feb 1818 in Osage City, KS, USA. All of these children were born in Maesteg, Glamorgan, So. Wales. David LEWIS's father was David LEWIS b. abt. 1762 and grandfather was Thomas LEWIS b. abt. 1736. Henry married to Ann MATTHEW in Wales 11 Jun 1858 and they had three children in Wales before emigrating to the USA in abt. 1863. These were: Thomas H. b. 9 Feb 1859, Elizabeth b. 11 Dec 1860, and Mary Jane b. 3 May 1863. They first came to Beavermeadows in Carbon co., Pennsylvania, USA and in about 1875 moved on to Kansas. They had six more children in PA and three in KS for a total of twelve. Of David's children as you see above, three I know emigrated to the USA. Thomas, Elizabeth, and Henry. However, I have no other info on Lewis, Jane and David other than Jane's year of passing in Wales. I assume that that Lewis and David did not emigrate either. If you would like you may contact me directly at mickmickel@gmail.com. Best regards, Eldon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
