The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage City Thursday September 21, 1939 Former Resident Dies. The death of Orrie Wood STEWART, 58, son of the late James and Addie Wood Stewart, formerly of this place, occurred at his home in Colorado Springs on September 9. Mr. Stewart had been in poor health for some time. A brother, Ben, with whom he was associated in business, survives. The deceased was a cousin of W.J. SMITH of Burlingame.
The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday September 21, 1939 Jake Friel Dead. Jake FRIEL, 30, died in Kansas City hospital on Thursday, September 14. Mr. Friel had lived in the community for the past two or three years. He had been an invalid for several years and had spent much of his time in hospitals. The family had but lately moved from the vicinity of Harveyville to near Scranton. Funeral services and burial was made Saturday at Soldier. Two children, Marion and Phyllis Friel of Richmond, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Friel of Scranton, survive.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday September 14, 1939 Honor Her 90th Birthday. Mrs. L.L. CHASE celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday, September 6, and following their annual custom, members of the Sunshine chapter, Pythian Sisters lodge, arrived at her home with a bountiful dinner prepared to spread upon her table. Mrs. Chase enjoys very good health. She attends to her own business affairs, has many social contacts and makes frequent trips about town. Guest in ther home on Monday and Tuesday of last week were Mrs. Eva SHAW and Mrs. Charles MILES of Bradford. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday August 31, 1939 Mrs. L. Maloney Dead. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy MALONEY were held Friday, August 18, at the Presbyterian church in Arvonia, and burial made in the Arvonia cemetery. Mrs. Maloney died Wednesday, August 16, at the Osage county farm near Burlingame where she had lived for about six years. She had been previously a housekeeper for the Powell brothers of Arvonia for several years.

Rose, proprietor. The bowling alleys have been resurfaced and thoroughly reconditioned. The Enterprise-Chronicle Thursday August 3, 1939 Gives a Bowling Party. Mary Jo ROSE entertained a group of young people last Friday evening, complimenting her cousin, Carl Tilford, who was here from Emporia. The early part of the evening was spent in bowling at the Rose Bowling parlors, after which they went to the Rose home for games and refreshments. Those present were Jean and Edith Stodard, Bernice Schenck, Verna Rae Hotchkiss, Jacqueline McLeod, Joe and Edgar Miner, Robert Stainbrook, Tommy Oliver, Wally McFarlane and Andrew Young.
The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday August 3, 1943 Stroke Is Fatal To James Imlay. Dies Early Monday Evening Following Few Hours Illness. James IMLAY, 82, son of the later Isaac Imlay, and for many years a respected citizen of Burlingame, died at his home in the northwest part of town Monday night, after an illness of but a few hours. He was about town as usual Saturday and Sunday, was taken ill Monday morning and about noon suffered a severe stroke from which he did not revive. Death came about ten o'clock that evening. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church yesterday afternon at 2:30 o'clock with burial in the Burlingame cemetery.

Another sister, Miss Jennie, married the laste Reverend Harper. Miss Sadie was 82 years of age and had been blind and an ivalid for several years. Her burial at Redondo Beach occurred on July 13.
