On Wednesday, Miss Dorman and Joe DEIHL of Alma, and Mr. and Mrs. SMITH drove to Topeka, where Miss Dorman and Mr. Diehl were married. They will live in Alam. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Smith attended a wedding dinner and shower for Mr. and Mrs. Deihl at the home of her mother, Mrs. Eva Dorman in Alma.
The Enterprise-Chronicle Thursday November 30, 1939 Wrecking Old Elevator. The People's Herald of Lyndon says that Clifford WILLIAMS has purchased the old elevator in the south part of Lyndon, and has a crew of men tearing it down. Rumor has it that Mr. Williams will build one or more residences from the material but he has not authorized any such rumor. The old elevator served its time and became a relic when the Santa Fe railroad was discontinued and the track removed. There is a world of good material in the building that could be used to supply the need of good homes in Lyndon.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday November 30, 1939 A Capper Employee For Forty Years. The Sunday Topeka Capital carries an account of 40 years of service of Fred M. WHITE with the Capper Publications in Topeka. Mr. White is the eldest son of A.G. White of Burlingame. Forty years ago last Monday he started work on the Mail and Breeze as a printer's apprentice. Now after four decades, he has mastered almost every detail of printing and is still with the Capper Publications as foreman of the magazine composing room. He was born and educated in Scranton, where he graduated from high school in the spring of 1899. He says, "When I first came to the Mail and Breeze, it was not the pretentious organization that one sees in the Capper Publications today. But what a thrill to see it grow." If he has a hobby, it is the education of his children: Mrs. Charles R. EDSON, of Chicago, a graduate of the National College of Education, Evanston; Miss Velma WHITE, a graduate of Washburn College, now teaching in the high school at Fowler, Kansas; Alfred White, a junion in the engineering department, Kansas State College, and Miss Leah WHITE, a freshman in home economics at Kansas State College. There is a Lucretia Borgia in our midst--perhaps two or three Lucretias! Dogs are poisoned without regard to age, color or previous condition. They die and make no sign. Everybody thinks it is a good thing--if his dog isn't poisoned. But there's no partiality shown--it's a tidal wave.

FOSTER, both of Topeka, took place in the manse of the Christian church of Topeka on Sunday afternoon, October 1, at three o'clock, the pastor, Rev. J.C. Owens officiating. They wil lbe at home to their friends in Mr. Foster's home, 1249 Polk street, Topeka, after October 15. Mr. Foster, who grew to manhood here, has resided in Topeka for many years. Mrs. Foster had been employed for some time in the Harris-Goar store in Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. Foster drove to Burlingame, Sunday afternoon and were entertained at a dinner at the home of his sister, Mrs. Stella Dawson. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Nowlin.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday September 29, 1939 Mrs. Dan Welch Dies Suddenly. Death Comes Without Warning Last Wednesday. Funeral services for Mrs. Dan WELCH were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, September 24, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.E. Kinglsey. Music was furnished by Mrs. E.L. Heilmann. Burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. Mrs. Welch's death came without warning Wednesday evening, the result of a heart attack, and was a shock to her family and friends. She had been in her usual health and enjoyed the evening with her family listening to the radio. She retired before the rest of the family, and her husband found her in a dying condition as he entered the bed chamber a short time later. Martha TULIP, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Tulip, was born at Stepville, near Scammon, Cherokee county, Kansas on April 16, 1893, aged at her death on September 20, 1939, 46 years and five months. She was married to Dan WELCH at Girard, Kansas, on January 22, 1916. To this union were born three children, Fred, Nadine, and Shirley, who with the husband, remain to mourn her death. There also survive three sisters, Mrs. Maggie FERGUSON and Mrs. Mary POWELL, of Henrietta, Okla., and MRs. Anna VanZANT of Pittsburg, Kansas, all of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Welch's sphere was her home. Her life's interest centered about her family and the duites of home life. She was a kindly neighbor and a friend to any in need. The sympathy of many friends is expressed for the bereaved family. The following relatives were among those who attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Welch of Grantville; Mr. and Mrs. John Welch and Mrs. Clyde Rice of Williamsburg; Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Strode and Miss Zona Ferguson of Kansas City; Mrs. and Mrs. Charles VanZant, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Gray, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stobart, of Pittsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bacon, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Post, Mrs. Jennie Wilcox, and Ira Wilcox, of Topeka.
