The Enterprise-Chronicle Thursday October 3, 1940 Hugh HENDERSON, a Burlingame boy in the U.S. Navy is home on a 23-day furlough for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Anna HENDERSON, and sister in Topeka and with numerous relatives and friends here. Hugh, assigned to the USS Pennsylvania now in the navy yards at San Diego, returned on September 7 from a cruise in Pacific waters and to the Hawaiian Island.

Graveside services for Mrs. Morley COOK, 63, were held at the Harveyville cemetery on Thursday afternoon, September 26, at four o'clock. Mrs. Cook was formerly Miss Mabelle EASTER, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Easter and spent many years of her girlhood in Burlingame. She was united in marriage to Morley P. COOK, son of the late Rey John Cook of Harveyville in 1898, and for the past 20 years had lived at Madison where Mr. Cook was owner of the Cook Furniture and Undertaking Company. Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband and three children, Mrs. Howard GRAHAM, of Mount Carroll, Ill., Leonard COOK of Madison, who is associated with his father in business, and Williard Cook of Halstead.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday September 12, 1940 John G. Randall Dies At Home In Montana. Mrs. Harry HARKNESS has received word of the death of her brother-in-law, Dr. John G. RANDALL, 60, which occurred at his home in Missoula, Mont. Dr. Randall had practiced medicine and surgery in Missoula for the past 36 years. A graduate of the state university at Madison, Wisc., he completed his medical course at Chicago and had taken graduate work at Oxford, England. He and his family had traveled extensively, and Dr. and Mrs. Randall were enroute on a vacation trip to Hawaii when he was stricken with a heart attack at Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Randall was formerly Miss Nettie HALLER of Burlingame. Two daughters, Miss Charlotte and Miss Joann Randale also survive.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday August 29, 1940 Jas. Henderson Dies. Funeral services for James HENDERSON, 68, are being held today at the Presbyterian church in Auburn. His death occurred in Seattle, Wash., where he had lived in recent years. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary WHITTEN, Auburn; Jackie and Jeanette HENDERSON, Seattle, Wash.; four brothers, John, Robert, Humphrey and Donald Henderson all of Auburn.
The Enterprise-Chronicle Thursday August 29, 1940 Mrs. John Jones Hurt When Cars Collide Mrs. John JONES of this city received injuries in a head-on motor car collision Sunday evening at 10:35 o'clock which caused her removal to Stormont hospital in Topeka for X-ray examination and treatment. The accident happened when the car in which Mr. and Mrs. Jones and Noble CANN were returning home to Burlingame collided with another car at the intersection of highways 31 and 50, one mile north of Osage City. Ralph and James LANE, Earnest DECOCK and Lee PERKINS, all of Osage City were the occupants of the other car. The drivers, Mr. Jones and Lee Perkins were uninjured, but Mr. Cann received minor cuts and burises and Decock a hip injury. At the hospital it was found that Mrs. Jones had sustained a deep cut on her knee and severe cuts and bruises about the leges and face. No bones were broken. She will be unable to leave the hospital for several days.

The Enterprise Chronicle Osage County Thursday August 22, 1940 Services Are Held For P.G. Moore. Funeral services for P.G. MOORE, 57, were held in the Presbyterian church of Burlingame on Saturday afternoon, August 17, at two o'clock. In the absence of the pastor, Lawrence Almond of the Methodist church conducted the service. The music was furnished by Fred Cones and Harry Harkness, with Mrs. W. G. Beale at the organ. Burial was made in Foster cemetery near Topeka, where Mr. Cones sang the hymn, "Good Night" by Ira B. Sankey at the committal service. Mr. Moore had been in failing health for the past three years and an invalid for several months. His death at his home northwest of Burlingame on Thursday night, August 15, came as a release from his constant suffering. Pheasant Griffith MOORE, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Moore, was born in Northamptonshire, England, April 21, 1883. He came to America with his parents and older brother, William, when one year of age and lived near Pauline, Kans., and in the Six Mile neighborhood until 18 years ago, when he moved with his family to the farm where his death occurred. He was united in marriage ot Miss Ora CALLAHAM of Topeka on April 21, 1909. Three children were born to this union: John C., Kenneth P., and Helen Olive all of the home. He is survived by his widow, three children; his mother, Mrs. Annie B. Moore of Six Mile; a brother, William J. Moore of Burlingame; a sister, Mrs. Ruby BENHAM and a brother, Edward Moore both of Six Mile. Another sister, Mrs. Catherine MAUS, passed away in 1920 and his father in 1922. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Moore united with the Presbyterian church at Auburn while a young man, transferring his membership to the Burlingame church when he moved to this locality, and in which he was a faithful attendent when health permitted. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and was highly esteemed in the communities in which he lived. He had served as treasurer of Fairplan Grange and was a member of the school board in District No. 110 for a number of years.

Tom ELLIS, who has been employed for some months in the office of the state social welfare board at Topeka, has gone to Cameron, Mo., to become manager of the Daily Sun of that city. Young Tom, son of a newspaper man, has equipped himself for the newspaper profession by completing the course in journalism at Kansas University where he also received much practical experience. Mrs. Ellis, formerly Miss Geraldine CHARTIER, teacher in the Burlingame high school for several years, has joined him for a residence in Cameron.
