    3. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday January 23, 1941 Stroke Is Fatal To Grover LOVETT. Grover LOVETT, 53, died at his home near Wilmington early Tuesday morning from a cerebral hemorrhage, following an illness of about two years. With two brothers, Eadss and Elmer and two sisters, Lizzie and Rosella Lovett, he had made his home in that community for many years. The body accompanied by the brother, Elmer, was taken to his former home at St. Elmo, Ill., yesterday morning, where also resides another brother, S.F. Lovett.

Ted YOUNG, of Osage City, whose death occurred in a hospital in Topeka, Tuesday, January 14, was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. John GIACHINO of this city. His wife, Rosa Giachino Young, and four children survive him.

The death of Martin TUBBS, 86, occurred yesterday morning at the home of his nephew, Alonzo Tubbs in Burlingame, with whom he had lived for the past three years. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but burial will be made at his former home in Girard.

MOORE, announces the marriage of her daughter, Helen Olive, to Raymond O. BRIGGS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Briggs. The marriage took place at the home of Rev. and Mrs. J.C. Lane, in Oskaloosa, Kans., on September 28. Immediately after the ceremony the young couple took a short wedding trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. The bride is the only daughter of Mrs. Moore and the late Mr. Moore. A graduate of Harveyville high school with the class of 1939, she is completing her second years as teacher in District 104. Mr. Briggs also graduated in the class of 1939 at Harveyville and has since been engaged in farming. They will make their home on the farm north of No. 110 school house the coming year.

Mrs. Evelyn REID, newly elected county clerk, has named as her deputy Mrs. Ellen VINCENT of near Scranton. Mrs. Vincent was the Democratic candidate for Register of Deeds in the recent election. She is an ex-school teacher and a very capable woman. Mr. Vincent lost his eye sight several years ago and this appointment will no doubt meet wtih the approval of many over the county.

    3. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday December 12, 1940 Carl E. Logan Dies At Home In Quenemo. Carlton E. LOGAN, 67, brother of Bert Logan and a lifelong resident of Quenemo, died at his hoem on Thursday, December 5, after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife, six sons, thirteen grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Sadie JONES, of Westville, Okla., and one brother Bert Logan, of Quenemo. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Quenemo Federated church.

    3. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday December 12, 1940 Services Are Held At Carbondale For Mrs. Lucy Thomas. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy THOMAS, 76, were held Sunday, December 8, at the City Hall in Carbondale, and burial made in the Carbondale cemetery. The services were conducted by Dr. T.C. Hinkle of Onaga, a former resident of Carbondale. Mrs. Thomas died at the home of her son, E.A. Thomas in Topeka on December 6. She came to Carbondale with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. CANN, from England, in 1880. The following year she was married to William H. THOMAS, well known pioneer of Osage County. She had always been prominent in church and club circles in her community. Surviving are three children, Mrs. G.L. NORTON, Carbondale, Mrs. M.E. ROBBINS, Knoxville, Tenn.; and E.A. Thomas, Topeka; three sisters, Mrs. H.A. PLATT, Manhattan; Mrs. George CATREN, Harveyville, and Mrs. Sophia VANDEGRIFT, Topeka; three brothes, the Rev. William H. CANN, Adelaide, South Australia; Eli Cann, Fallen, Nev.; and John Cann, Pittsburg, Kans.; and eight grandchildren.

The Enterprise-Chronicle Thursday November 21, 1940 Mrs. Olive MORRIS of Lydon, the cashier of the Lyndon State Bank, is in St. Francis hospital in Topeka, being treated for injuries received in an unusual accident. In attempting to adjust a storm window, she was blown from the porch of her home to the concrete walk below, a distance of about four feet. Her right arm was forced through the glass, and muscles and tendons and arteries were severed just above the wrist. In the fall she also received a fractured hip and pelvis. A telephone has been placed at her bedside in order that she many be available for advice on important bank affairs. Mrs. Morris is an aunt of Mrs. Dick ELLIS of this city.

    3. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday October 31, 1940 Graveside Services Are Conducted Here. Graveside services for William Ray STEWART, 45, were held in the Burlingame cemetery Saturday afternoon, October 26. The deceased was buried with military honors, a large number from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Topeka being present at the service. Mr. Stewart, a native Kansan, died in a Topeka hospital on Thursday, October 24. He was a son of B.W. Stewart of Burlingame, but had resided in Topeka since 1920. For the past 18 years he was employed in the machine shops of the Santa Fe there. During the World War he served in Company F, 28th infantry, Third Division. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys Stewart; thre children, Jean, Velma, and Paul Stewart, and a stepson, Walter IMLAY, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Sarah C. Stewart of Topeka; five sisters, R.M. MICHAEL, Mrs. Dewey HEAD and Mrs. L.E. SELF, of Topeka, and Mrs. Dora ROGERS, of San Francisco, Mrs. Walter SHEPARD, Lyndon.

    3. The Enterprise-Chronicle Osage County Thursday October 31, 1940 Services Are Held For John C. Davis. Funeral services for John C. DAVIS, 82, were held in the Burliname Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon, October 30, and burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. This service followed a previous service which had been held at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary in Topeka at 1 o'clock. Mr. Davis passed away at his home, 2518 Central Park avenue, in Topeka, Monday night, October 28. The Davis family are former very well known residents of this locality, as they lived for several years on the farm two miles north of Burlingame now owned and occupied by W.J. Moore. Mr. Davis is a native Kansan, having been born in Douglas county on January 14, 1858. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Davis, of the home; three sons, Charlie and Clyde Davis, both of Topeka, Henry Davis, of Blue Mound; four daughters, Mrs. Bertha WEYBRIGHT of Lawrence, Mrs. Maggie L. LARGE, of Topeka, Mrs. Nettie V. SHANK, of Topeka, and Mrs. Ruth I. WARK, of Osage City; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
