I'm hoping someone can help me sort out what info belongs to which person. They are first cousins, which confuses the issue, and also my first cousins once removed so I'm reasonably sure they both actually existed. George Leroy and wife Grace HILL ROTH and his brother Walter Frank and wife Bessie SINER ROTH apparently both named a son Clarence. (What were they thinking)? I have an exact birth date for one of them, but don't know for sure which one. The child born to Walter and Bessie doesn't show up on any censuses, leading me to believe he may have died young but there might be some other explanation. I also speculated that one died as an infant and the other was named for him. George and Grace's son is on the 1920 (Rice Co. KS) and 1930 (Osage Co. KS) censuses with his widowed father. Next thing I find is the 1940 Census in Topeka; Chester (NMI) is with wife Alma M. and sons Ralph age 3 and Gary age 1. In 1943 he's on WWII Army Enlistment Records, enlisting as Chester R. at Ft. Leavenworth. Residence is Shawnee County, probably Topeka. Year of birth is 1913; no month or day given; born in Kansas. He's married. Find A Grave has Chester R. ROTH born 23 January 1913, died 11 January 1959 buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka KS. It is a military stone, obviously the same man as on the enlistment record. The image for the application for his gravestone is online at Ancestry and info agrees with what is on the stone with the addition of the middle name Ralph (though it's not on the stone), and the applicant is A. Marcella ROTH, surely the wife Alma M. from the 1940 census. I don't find Alma or Marcella on Find A Grave. There is one Ralph but he's not theirs. There is Gary C. b. 1938 buried in CA and Gary E. b. 1939 buried in FL who are possibilities but there's no further info on them. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
