MORRIS of Scranton was here last week on business. Last week W.H. WARNER bought a home in Ottawa at 9th and Hickory St. and will move soon. Mr. and Mrs. THRUSH visited at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Cora WILSON, Sunday.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday February 23, 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Will PLOWMAN attend the funeral of her brother, Robert HURST, in Kansas City, Sunday. Miss Mildred MARTIN of Agricola, with a gentleman friend, Mr. Chester MORRIS, visited her mother at the ALT home Sunday. Mrs. Martin has been her the past month. 'Grandma' PLOWMAN who makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joe ALLISON, has been confined to her bed the past three weeks, and is very feeble. She is 87 years of age.

    3. The Melvern Review Osage County Thursday February 1, 1923 Mrs. BRANDON of Olivet, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23. She had suffered intensely for several months with cancer of the stomach, and her daughter Elsie has been with her constantly during the past year. Miss Elsie is a trained nurse by profession.

    3. TheMelvern Review Osage County Thursday December 21, 1922 Mrs. John MOORE passed away at her home south east of town Monday morning about one o'clock. Funeral services were at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the Melvern cemetery. =================== Aslea Harriet PORTER was born Jan. 3, 1889, in Platte county, Missouri and departed this life Dec. 18, 1922, at the age of 33 years, 11 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to John Harrison MOORE Feb. 7, 1906. To this union five children were born: Nell Marie, William Laverne, Jennie Lee, Johnie Wilber and Clarence Edwin. Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Kansas in the spring of 1910 where they have since made their home near Melvern, moving in the springs of 1921 to the farm three miles south and two east of Melvern, where she departed this life. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, and three sons, her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.T. PORTER of Melvern, three brothers, Millard and John of Melvern, Will of Agricola, and one sister, Mrs. Dora PAYTON of Osborne, Kansas; a neice, Mrs. Fred BROWN of Melvern, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Arch PORTER of Kansas City, besides many relatives and a host of friends who will deeply miss her pleasant smile. She is the fifth of nine children, who have been called home. Her brother Arch preceded her in death about seven months. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, always thinking of the welfare of her family. In the community she was ever active in all social affairs and was Worth Lecturer of our Grange. In the death of Alsea, the husband has lost a faithful wife, the children a loving mother and th ecommunity a very dear friend.--Written by a friend.

Gilbert RYAN and wife, 'Grandma' SHIRLEY and Mrs. Enda THOMAS and Howard STEPHENS of Ill., spent Monday at Al BAILIES. Geo. WHITE and wife of Booth spent Sunday at Anthony GREQUI's. The Humphrey and Geo. ALLEU families and Mrs. WHITE, Sr., had a feast at Art WHITE's Thursday. Gerald WHITE's vacation was spoiled somewhat by severe ear ache following a cold that has been quite common in this vicinity.

    3. The Melvern Review Thursday November 16, 1922 Mrs. L.J. LEWIS disposed of her household goods at public auction last Saturday afternoon. There was a good crowd attended and the bidding was brisk, but the goods did not bring their real worth. Mr. and Mrs. R.W. SMITH went to Kansas City Monday on business. Mr. Smith will go further into Missouri and visit his mother who resides there. Our postmaster, J.S. DOOTY, Grant STEPHENS, G.M. JENNINGS, and Allen BRINK, mail carriers, attended the convention for the postal employees in Topeka last week.
