Author: eileencd Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/604.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There is a plot with the name "Allen Williams" and no dates on it. I realize that Nelson had a son named Allen, but perhaps Allen was the owner of the plat and Nelson Williams is actually buried there. You would need to find the sexton of the cemetery to check old burial records. To do that, you might begin by calling the Auburn City Clerk. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JLFamilyHistory Surnames: Williams, Benning, Irving, Miller, Thomas, Mosby, Adair, Taylor Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/604/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would like to connect with other descendants of Nelson Williams. He was born around 1800 in Tennessee and came to Auburn, Kansas in 1863. He moved to Burlingame sometime before 1885 where he lived until his death in 1892. His obituary indicates that he was buried in Auburn Cemetery but I have been unable to find documentation of this. Nelson's wife (name unknown) died between 1863 and 1865 and is also reportedly buried in Auburn Cemetery. They had five sons: Allen (Armilda Benning), Samuel (Mariah Irving and Katie Irving), John (Agnes Miller), George and Robert and five daughters Adeline (Wesley Thomas) Elmada (Berry Mosby), Amanda (John Adair), Harriet (John Taylor) and Laura. I am the archivist at Osage County Historical Society and Museum in Lyndon, Kansas. We would be very interested in acquiring the Kansas photos if you wish to part with them. Most of these are studio photographs taken in the mid to late 1800s. From the information on the faces, or in some cases the backs of the photos, we know that they were taken in Lyndon and Osage City, Kansas. I've had them on my rootsweb freepages website for sometime, but as far as I know there haven't been any interested parties. 3. The Osage County Historical Society has a large collection of obituaries as well as newspapers on microfilm.  There is a small fee. Go to: www.osagechs.org; click on Research Center; scroll down to Obituary Master Index. Hope this helps.
