Author: TodB_724 Surnames: Granat Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/539/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi: I'm trying to find out dates of death for Herman Granat (born 1826) and his wife, Eliza/Elise (born 1823), who were in Superior Township, Osage County, by 1875 (enumerated in that year's state census). They had emigrated to the U. S. from Denmark in 1872, but both were natives of Sweden. He appears to have died between 1880 and 1900, whereas she (recorded as Elin Granat) was enumerated in the 1900 federal census in Osage City. I wasn't able to find either of them in the 1885 or 1895 Kansas state censuses. Thanks for any help! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Thank you for this information. I'm not related to them either. I'm working on a book for the Osage County Historical Society about the people who are buried at Arvonia. I'd like to include what information I can on this family. Your info sets me in the right direction. I believe the Richard G. Parker that you are seeking was the son of Willard Edwin Parker and Ann Jane Protheroe. He had a sister Violet M Parker, who married Albert Ayers. In 1930, the family is living in Coffey County, Kansas. Richard G. was 14. The census was taken April 2, so he would not be 15 until April 20. In 1920, the family is living in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. Richard is 4. The census was taken 5 January 1920. In 1910, Willard E Parker and Ann are living with her widowed father, Richard Protheroe in Coffey County, Kansas. In 1900, Ricard Protheroe is already widowed. He has one child at home, Ann Jane who is 13. He was 35, so I would imagine that she was his only living child. If this is the family, I can supply you with more information. At ancestry.com there is a family tree that traces the Parker family. The Protheroe family came to the U.S.A. from Wales in 1870. They are found on the 1870 Coffey County, Kansas, Census. 3. The Carbondale Record Osage County Friday November 3, 1888 Died. Guy, infant son of Elmer and Hattie McDONALD, on Monday, at 5 o'clock p.m., aged one year and four days. The little fellow suffered for almost three months with that dreadful disease, typhoid fever, and at times it seemed as though his life was to be spared; but when their hopes were brightest and they were looking forward to his speedy recovery, they realized the truth of the fact, that "in the midst of life we are in death." The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.

    3. The Carbondale Record Osage County Friday October 27, 1888 Death of Mrs. Robert Munnoch. Mrs. Robert MUNNOCH, of Scranton, who has been suffering with typhoid fever for five weeks, was up to the first of this week, thought to be out of danger. On Monday she had a relapse and Dr. J. BEASLEY was called from this city, but too late, death claimed her for his hown, and on Friday afternoon her sould rent asunder its prison of clay and returned to the God who gave it. She leaves a husband and five small children to mourn her loss. Mrs. Munnoch was in every sense that blessed name, a "Mother." We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the husband and children.
