I can hardly believe my eyes. It looks like we have finally, after all these years, found our wayward ancestor! Oh, now I have so many more questions.... you are a Thornbrugh?!? Are you in the eastern KS area? Can you tell me if there is anyway to go to the cemetery and be able to locate Lot #57? I have been working with an older "cousin" in OK who has looked at cemeteries in that area and now that I think we have found L.N. I know he will want to go there as soon as the weather warms. Do you know if Lot #57 is near something identifiable? I simply cannot thank you enough for this information. Cathi Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: TarynThornbrugh Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/560.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a copy of the cemetery registration book which lists an I. N. Thornbrogh (has two o's and no u) buried in lot #57. It has a notation on the side that Lot #56 was issued for him, but he was mistakenly buried on Lot #57. I have a handmade map of the Curry-Eastview Cemetery that has the numbered lots with names of the owners of the lots. It also shows on Lot #57 : L.N. Thornbrogh. No Dates. No Stone. Just as you read on FindAGrave. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: cathi2 Surnames: Thornbrugh Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.osage/560/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Our first real clue in years on our mystery ancestor may have been found in Currey Cemetery - can anyone help us? Recently discovered Findagrave.com and overjoyed to find actual photo's of some of our Thornbrugh family in Oak Hill Cemetery. And then... reference in Currey Cemetery to an I.N. Thornbrugh. No further information and no photo's. The submitter of the information has apparently passed away and I have no idea where or who to contact for further information. (where did the name come from?) We have searched for years for information on our L.N. (Lemuel Newton) Thornbrugh and found nothing. In all my files of Thornbrugh names - never have I seen a Thornbrugh with the first initial of "I". Is it possible - this is indeed reference to our mystery/missing ancestor? Can anyone tell me how to proceed? Where burial records for Currey Cemetery might be kept? I have checked with the county government offices and they write that they find nothing for him... he simply disappears after a second marriage (Julia Hasty) in September 1886. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They are buried near the center of the cemetery. Have you checked the Ripley, Ohio area. The Rankin family, also involved in the underground railroad, came from Ripley to Quenemo. I would love to know more about your family. I am the sexton for Oak Hill Cemetery and a local historian, but I'm afraid I don't have much info about the Kirkpatrick family. If you are able, send any info to mikeragan1987@yahoo.com. Thank You, Mike Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
