The Melvern Review Thursday October 30, 1924 Political. I, Ruth R. THOMAS, the present Register of Deeds, am asking for re-election. I will have two years experience at the expiration of the present term and am familiar with all details of the office. The duties of the office have prevented me from making as large a field canvass as I should like to have, being too busy looking after my work. The Melvern Review Osage County Thursday October 30, 1924 Charles Alexander NUMBERS was born in Melvern, Kansas, April 30, 1903. Departed this life October 23, 1924. He grew to manhood and received his schooling in Melvern. He was employed as fireman on the Santa Fe in Kansas City, Kansas, when he met his death. He leaves to mourn his absence his father, A.A. Numbers, of Scranton, four brothers and four sisters. Card of Thanks. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and friends for the sympathy and help tendererd us at the time of the death of our beloved son and brother, for the many beautiful floral offierings; also the quartet or the singing. The Melvern Review Thursday October 9, 1924 S.D. SMITH and family of Princeton were visiting with R. W. SMITH's last Sunday. J.L. DOOTY was in Anthony, Kansas, on business last week. Mrs. B.S. RICE and Cleo visited Mr. Rice's sister in Lyndon Sunday. B.S. RICE departed Kansas City Sunday morning. Mercedes and Sedgwick DOOTY and John HILL and children attended the Corn Carnival last week Mr. FORBES has contracted the new school building at LaCygne. Our new building was considered as a model. The DOOTY's have sublet a portion of the work. Mrs. Robt. ALLEY and daughter and Miss Sarah SMITH shopped in Lyndon Tuesday.

Elmer KALB killed nine rattlesnakes while helping Ralph CHAPMAN put up Hay. Mr. and Mrs. Lou FISHER and daughter Jean of Waverly spent Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Fisher. Wayne and Helen FISHER called at the KALB home Saturday. Wayne and Alvin FISHER, Clarence NORTHCOTT, Glenn and Clyde STONEBRAKER and Mervin ESTEP visited the Kalbs Sunday.

CRAWFORD and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence FRANKLIN motored to Emporia Sunday to see Paul. Mr. and Mrs. B.S. RICE and Mr. and Mrs. I.J. RICE were in Lyndon shopping last Saturday. Mrs. B.S. RICE went to Kansas City with a car load of horses last Monday.

The following information may be pertinent: "Last Friday telegrams received in Scranton stated that Edwin Dangerfield had been drowned off Holyhead, Wales. Later dispatches confirmed the report of his death. Mr and Mrs Edwin Dangerfield and five children removed to England about a year ago. Last fall they decided to return to Kansas, and wrote a letter requesting their property near the depot be made ready of their return about the first of May. Edwin Dangerfield has been a resident of Scranton for nearly twenty years, and had a wide circle of acquaintances. He was sixty-four years old. YOUNG, who had to have her limb amputated, the result of blood poisoning caused by a tack in her shoe. He also visited a sister, Mrs. C.L. MELVIN, at Gypsum City, before he returned home last Wednesday. Charles WARNER and wife, of Ottawa, and Mr.a nd Mrs. M.D. WARNER spent Sunday at the Geo. WARNER home.

The Melvern Review Thursday July 16, 1924 Paul CRAWFORD and family, of Emporia, visited their parents last week and returned to their home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy JONES, from Madison visited Mrs. Jones' aunt, Mrs. W.H. CAMPBELL and family Sunday. Dan FARMER underwent an operation for the removal of tonsils and adnoids, last Thursday at Lyndon. He is getting along very nicely. J.L. DOOTY made a business trip to Anthony, Kansas, this last week.
The Melvern Review Osage County Thursday July 9, 1924 Arle Wesley LEWIS, son of Roy and Myra Lewis came to their home like a bright sunbeam on the morning of June 8th and entered the land of rest June 27th after an illness of a few hours. All that loving hands could do was but to fail, the tiny soul returned to the God who gave it. A little rosebud on earth to bloom in heaven. Little Arle was with us only twenty short days. He leaves to mourn his loss a heartbroken father and mother, two little brothers, Omer and Vanee, grandparents and other relatives. The funeral services were held at the family home Saturday afternoon, June 28th, after which the little body was gently laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery. Rev Lacey of Melvern officiating. Card of Thanks. We wish to thank our kind neighbors and friends who were so helpful and thoughtful during the illness and death of our darling baby. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lewis and Family.
The Melvern Review Osage County Thursday July 9, 1924 Hardy--Brown. Mrs. Cora HARDY and Curtis BROWN were married at Ottawa Tuesday afternonn and returned to Melvern that evening. Mrs. Hardy owned and operated the "Jolly Robin Cafe" here until a few weeks ago. They will be at home in the Ingle property. The Review joins their many friends in extending congratulations.
The Melvern Review Thursday July 2, 1924 H. L. Stewart Announces. H.L. STEWART, an Overbrook young man, announces himself as candidate for the office of County Treasurer on the Republican ticket to the primary. Mr. Stewart has lived in Overbrook ever since he was four years old and is a graduate of the Overbrook high school. He has been employed in the Kansas State Bank for the last four years and is well qualified for the office. He is a well known and respected young man, and is sure to be of good support in this part of the county.--Overbrook Citizen.
