The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thursday September 13, 1883 Died, at his home in Elk township, on Monday, Sept. 10, 1883, Mr. Joseph LAW, at an advanced age. Mr. Law was well and widely known and respected, and his death comes like a shock to all, as he had only been sick a few days. He was esteemed so well that he has been chosen as Justice of the Peace in his district for a long time without opposition, and is one of the oldest settlers in the county. All sympathize with his bereaveed widow and relatives.
The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thursday September 13, 1883 Died, in this city, on Saturday morning, Sept. 8,m 1883, George C.B. MOORE, aged nineteen years and eleven months. Deceased was the youngest son of Dr. C.C. Moore, and was born at Auburn, Shawnee county, Kansas, at the time his father was largely interested in an effort to make that place the State Capital. From Auburn deceased came to this place with his father, where with the exception of brief intervals, he has remained ever since, and was closely identified, socially, with the young people of the city and vicinity, all of whom regret his untimely death. Deceased had only been confined to his bed a few days when death came, although the had been in poor health during the summer. The cause of his death is said to be rheumatism of the heart. All sympathize with his bereaved parents, he being their only remaining son.

The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thursday August 2, 1883 Died, at Leachburg, Pa., in July 21st, Hattie, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. A. JONES, of this city aged three years. The mother with the little one so soon cut off, left this city on the 7th ult., for a visit among friends and relatives in the east, and upon their arrival the little one was taken ill and died as above stated. The parents have the sympathy of all.
The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thursday August 2, 1883 Died, at his late residence in this city, on Saturday evening, July 28, 1883, Eugene H. MOORE in the thirty-sixth year of his age. This death comes very sudden, although deceased had been quite sick for a long time, but had been able to be out for some time, and was on the street the morning of his death, and his sudden taking off attributed to dropsy of the heart, he having been a sufferer with dropsy for a number of years, in fact has never had good health since he recovered from an attack of malignant scarlet fever, at the age of two years. He however has always made a gallant struggle for life. Deceased was born in Philadelphia, and removed with his father to Auburn, Kansas, and then here being engaged in business with him. He was married, and leaves a wife and three children, the eldest of whom is not yet eight years old, to mourn his loss, as well as numerous relatives and friends. His funeral took place on Monday from his late residence and was quite largely attended.

The Carbondale Independent Osage County Thursday July 12, 1883 Married, at Scranton, Kas., on Sunday, July 8th, 1883, Mr. S.D. BARRY to Miss Maggie McCORMICK, both of this city. Both parties are well known here, Steve, being the popular harness man of northern Osage, and every body joins in wishing them a long and happy life. The Carbondale Band, of which, Steve is a member, gave the happy couple an impromptu serenade on the Monday evening, and were invited in and treated in the best style imaginable. They all wish the young couple the best of all life to come.

The Carbondale Independent Thursday June 14, 1883 Jas. DICKINSHEETS, Jos. STIENBILBER, John T. MAY, and other went to Scranton, Monday night to Masonic Lodge, and were detained by the rain until the next morning. Y.M. SHIRES goes to Denison, Texas, in about eight days and will locate near that city. He has just returned from a trip through that country, and is very favorably impressed with every thing there.
