*From Norton County, Kansas Board & List Admin* Many of you may already know that the GenConnect message boards on Rootsweb have merged with the message boards at Ancestry.com. One major change is that ALL the separate boards at GenConnect [queries, obits, Bible, bios, pension, wills, & deed] have all been combined into one comprehensive board. Several other categories/classifications have been added such as birth, cemetery, census, immigration, marriage, lookup, military, and we hope, church. While this process is continuing, things on the message boards may not always work as expected. There have been many reported bugs with searching and links on the pages may not always work. But please be patient with the changes. They are working as fast as they can to fix all of the things we have been complaining about. When all is functioning properly and you learn how to use the board, you will find many valuable features. If you have questions or problems, be sure to let me know, and I will try to help. The URL for the Norton County Board is below. Please be aware that you may not be able to just click on this link, if it continues on to the second line. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.norton Here's what you need to do: With your mouse, left click & hold and highlight the first line of the URL above. Then right click and from the pop-up menu, select "Copy". Now move to your browser. Highlight the URL of the browser page you are currently on- in MS Explorer, this is in the "Address" field. In Netscape Navigator, it is called "Location". Now right click again and select "Paste" This replaces the old URL with the new one. Now repeat the highlight, cut and paste process again for the second line of the URL. Now press the enter key and you should be at the board. I suggest you bookmark it for future use. You can search the boards without a log-in, but if you want to post a message or reply to a previous post you will need to log-in. If you have EVER used Ancestry, either as a paid subscriber or as a free trial, you will have a user name and password with them. If you remember a previous user name and password, that one should work. Otherwise, you will have to create a new user name and password. Make sure you write it down somewhere, as you will need it each time you want to post to the message boards. Another, perhaps easier way to get to the board is: Click here http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=main&r=rw You will see a gray rectangle with two entry boxes: Search all Message Boards or Find a Message Board Type Norton in the "Find a Message Board", click on go. On the next page click on "Boards > Localities > North America > United States > States > Kansas > Counties > Norton" You should be there. Good luck, and happy searching, Ardie Norton County, Kansas Board Admin mad_genealogist@yahoo.com
