According to Robert Baughman's "Kansas Post Offices" Alfalfa was established as a post office on 13 February 1882 and discontinued on 16 May 1882. The first postmaster was James V. Smith. In the same book, Alverd was established as a post office on 06 April 1900 and discontinued on 31 December 1900. Frank M. Lockard was the first postmaster. To date I have found no additional information about or corroboration of these town sites. Let me know if you have any documentation. Ardie
