The main surnames in Norton County that I am researching are BROWN AND BECKWITH. Benjamin Franklin "BF" BROWN, b. 1825 in Maine married his 3rd wife, Susanna Jane WILSON BECKWITH, widow of William Carlos BECKWITH, in 1875 in Adams, Carbon County, Iowa. Shortly after they married, the started their trek west. Now BF had seven sons by a previous marriage, they were Henry Franklin, Fernand Donald, Louis Addison, William Wallace, Julius Bartlett, Edward Columbus, and Fred Weldon BROWN. Susanna Jane Wilson BECKWITH'S children were William Delos, Mary Ann, Candace Rosetta, Rebecca Jane, Nancy Cornelis, and Lorretta Victoria BECKWITH. >From the Union of BF BROWN AND Susanna Jane Wilson BECKWITH were born the following: George Washington, b. 1878 Julietta, Nebraska ?; Anna May b. 1880 Almena, Norton County, Kansas; and Riley Lincoln BROWN, b. 1882 Almena, Norton County, Kansas This family was enumberated on the 1880 Census, before Anna May was born. 1880 Aldine, Norton County, Kansas Census Vol. 14 Sheet 19 E.D. 200 Line 32, Enumberated with Brown, Benjamin Head of Houshold, age 53 Susan Wife age 41 Julus Son age 16 Frederick Son age 8 Edwin Son age 11 George Son age 02 Beckworth, Nancy Step Daughter age 12 Beckworth, Lauretta Step Daughter age 08 They are next located in the 1900 Census of Meeteetse, Big Horn County, Wyoming Now just to mix things up more, Two of BF's sons married Two of Susannah's daughters . Henry Franklin BROWN married Candace Rosetta BECKWITH; and Julius Bartlett BROWN married Nancy Cornelia BECKWITH (they are my Great Grandparents.) This Union makes My Maternal Great Grandmother , Nancy Cornelius BECKWITH and my Paternal Great Grandfather, Julius Bartlett BROWN step sister and brother. Searching for any and all information on either the BROWNS & or BECKWITH Family. I would like to see if I can locate any information on this Family while they were in Norton County, Kansas, at least 20 years it appears. Did BF own property, what type of work he was doing? Other Family living near? It has been said that he was a scout for the Railroad and the he was friends with William Cody. In a letter received from Anna BROWN, she states that they drove Sheep to Wyoming. Have lots of info on the BROWN & BECKWITH'S, & would be willing to exchange info with someone researching the same.
