Dear List, Were there ever pioneer familys by the last name of EMMERSON or JENNINGS? With Best Regards Victoria Brittain Allen Looking for family in Ottawa county, Oklahoma in 1917-1918? See my new site at WWW.BrittainsBookBarn@Homestead.com a full directory on the net.
None listed in indexes of "The History of the Early Settlement of Norton County, Kansas" by F. M. Lockard or in "Seventy Years in Norton County, Kansas" by Bowers, but those sources are not all-inclusive. Jennings, KS is in Decatur County, the next county west of Norton. I know nothing about its origins or why it's named Jennings. Victoria wrote: > Were there ever pioneer familys by the last name of EMMERSON or JENNINGS? > > Victoria Brittain Allen

None that I'm aware of online - frequently the Lockard book is the best source of pioneer family info. It's online in extremely poor shape- [someone scanned it with an OCR utility - it's nearly unreadable in some parts and completely misses some pages] You can look at it at http://www.cc.ukans.edu/carrie/texts/lockard/ if you like.
