    2. Ardie & Greg Grimes
    3. Billingsville was established as a post office on 10 June 1872 and discontinued 28 Oct 1872. The first postmaster was Nathan H. Billings. Billingsville was located approximately 3 miles east of Norton; on the NE 40 of the SW 1/4 Sec 3, Twp 3 S, Range 23 W. Billingsville was little more than a "paper town" established by Nathan Billings, who was involved in creating and presenting fradulent petitions and documents to the governor in the process of county organization. It was temporarily designated as the county seat by Governor James M. Harvey, but the first county commissioners held an election, and Norton was declared the permanent county seat with 38 votes.

Lockard's History of the Early Settlement of Norton County, 1894, p. 130 [Devillo R. Blanding] moved back to the farm on Dry Creek [in the north part of the county] and put in a small stock of general merchandise; shortly after this he got a post office established at his place which was named Hanback in honor of Louis Hanback, our congressman at that time. He was postmaster at the time of his death. Mrs. Blanding was then appointed and held the office one year. The office has since been discontinued. also p. 231 [listing early settlers in near Dry Creek in Aldine township] John A. Blauvelt and his father-in-law, Mr. O'Brien came to Aldine in 1877.
