It appears that while adjusting something around the saw, he accidentally fell with his arm against the teeth of the saw while in motion, entering his arm at the elbow, lacerating it fearfully. One house, belonging to Mr. J.F. ALLISON, about one mile East, in Crawford Co., was blown down. It was not quite finished, and undoubtedly the wind took a better hold, not being thoroughly enclosed. --------------------------------------------------------------- Neosho Valley Eagle September 08, 1868 Jacksonville, Neosho, Kansas United States Page 3 Death - We are pained to chronicle the death of one of our esteemed citizens, Isaac McDONALD, of Bilious Remittent Fever. Mr. McDONALD's death has cast a gloom over our community, for his many sterling traits of character won for him universal respect and esteem. The disease of which he died assumed a virulent character, and although everything was done that medical science could suggest, he gradually sank and died on Tuesday morning, unconscious and free from pain. He leaves a wife and three children, and the sympathy of the whole community are with them in this their hour of affliction. ------------------- Administrator's Notice - Notice is hereby given that I was appointed, on the 26th August, 1867, Administrator of the estate of Andrew GRAHAM, deceased, by the Probate Court of Labette Co., Kansas. All persons having claims against said estate will present them to me for allowance within one year from the date of these letters of Administration, and if not presented within one years they will be forever debarred. AMEND, who lives half a mile west, was very badly injured in BROWN & ROBINSON's mill on Monday last. He was adjusting a rope on the Bull Wheel when his left arm was caught by his shirt sleeve in the cog wheels, and crushed from the hand to the elbow. He is now doing pretty well, and will not lose the use of his arm. --------------------------------------------------------------- Neosho Valley Eagle July 25, 1868 Jacksonville, Neosho, Kansas United States Page 3 Struck by Lightning - We learn that a lady, living in the Neosho bottom, about one mile from here, Mrs. CALBERT, was struck by lightning and instantly killed, on Wednesday night last. The electric current entered at the North corner of the house, and stunned the whole family. --------------------------------------------------------------- Neosho Valley Eagle July 11, 1868 Jacksonville, Neosho, Kansas United States Page 3 Melancholy Accident - We regret to chronicle the death of a fine boy, 13 years old, named David POST, by drowning, on the 5th inst. It appears that he with some others went to the Neosho to bathe. While in the water he commenced playing with a dog that had followed him in; while playing, by some cause he sunk, and before he was missed he had been in the water five minutes.
