XVI, NO. 24 FRIDAY, JAN. 13, 1899 Obituary. Died at his home near Chanut, Kan., December 2, 1898, John A. Biggs. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bayless at the F. B. church and were largely attended. Interment in the F. B. church cemetery. Father Biggs was born in the year 1827 in the state of New Jersey. He went with his parents to Ohio where he resided until manhood. He moved from there, to Kansas where he remained until his death. He leaves a wife and six grown children to morn his loss. Early in life he embraced the Savior as his guide. In him the church has lost a worthy member. He had not been able to attend church for several months on account of failing health. About two weeks before his death, to all members of his family and to others who were present at his bedside, he very earnestly gave this invitation: "I want you all to meet me in heaven.: He also said, "I am just waiting to cross over the river.: Yes we may say, " that he was simply waiting for his spirit to be freed from its earthly casket." The call came in the silent hours of the night; the transposition was made so peacefully and quietly without the utterance of a word. His work on earth was done. To those nearest and dearest to him a strong tie has been severed in their home, and light gone out to return no more. But in their bereavement they have the full assurance that he has entered the home of rest. To all the voice speaks loudly: "Be ye also ready for in an hour ye know not, the Son of man cometh."
