I believe that Osage Mission was changed to St Paul in 1895, so these would date before that. Can anyone tell give me any ideas as to the time period that the Bugbees were photographers in Osage Mission? 2) Another picture was taken by J W MONTEE, of Erie. I would appreciate any information as to when he was in Erie. Thank you for any help you can give me. Mary Shackelton gshackelton@yahoo.com

He performed a marriage 24 Dec 1868 and Elizabeth sold a piece of land to his son, Jared, 23 Sep 1869. She and the girls are on the 1870 in Neosho County minus him so he must have died before 1 June 1869. The time frame is beginning to narrow down. Thanks.

This would probably mean that he died before June 1, 1869... maybe....or he didn't die where you thought he did. Carole

Do you have any idea whether there's a way I can find a death for sometime between Dec 1868 and Sep 1869 (He isn't on the 1870 Mortality Schedule)? The father of Mercy Elmira Bogard Turner and Martha A. Bogard Barber died sometime around then. His name was John Bogard. He was a Justice of the Peace and Farmer. His widow was Elizabeth L. Black Bogard. They lived in Lincoln Twp in the vicinity of Jacksonville and Trotter's Ford.

The first is for Jared W. BOGARD to Martha E. McCARNEY. Believe they were married between 1865 and 1867. The other is for their daughter. Not sure what her name was - Mary or Lena. She would have married sometime after 1885 and before 1900... Basically I would be interested any BOGARD marriage that might have taken place in the county. Thanks.

Searching for more info on this piece: Thayer Head Light, Nov. 10: Yesterday morning, John BEN, aged 59 years, hanged himself at his farm three miles northeast of Thayer. The deceased left a large family of grown up children who are all respectable, industrious and orderly citizens. I believe this is may be my gg grandfather John Beu, b. 1817 in Germany. Some of the census have the family listed as Ben's. Believe he arrived in Neosho around 1870-72. Wonder if someone could see if any more was reported about this incident. Thanks, Doris

I just happened to read this message and was shocked to find the note about Thayer resident John Ben 59, who hung himself at his farm on Nov 10, 1976. I believe him to be John Beu from Prussia. I have his date of death as 1887 but if he had commited suicide then maybe the family...I don't know. Is there anything else about this John Ben in the paper afterwards or maybe earlier in 1868 until 76? The family is quite large and also connected by marriage to the Fred Scheel/Sheel family. I sure hope you are still on-line! With fingers & tosed crossed! Doris
