Author: schelly_sd Surnames: Browning, Kyle, Kyte Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.neosho/242.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Please, I am interested in trying to find the Browning family that connects a Harold Browning who died March of 1974 in Garnett, Kansas Anderson County. He had multiple sclerosis and was wheelchair or bed bound almost all the time I have memory of him. His wife was Roma Browning, though I don't have any stats on her. She's my maternal grandmother and I was orphaned in 1966. I have no family records to go on, and would like to try to get some idea of family ties. My grandmother was ashamed of my mother because she was born out of wedlock. My half-brothers' birth certificates list my mother's maiden name as Kyle or Kyte but I am unclear as to whether this was my grandmother's maiden name, assumed by my mother, or if it's the last name of the man who impregnated my grandmother and left her holding the bag. I have more info on my grandmother's second husband, Harold Browning, than I have on any other line and I'm not even related to him. Any help would be vastly appreciated. The legendary Romberger All-Family Reunion is happening again this year at St. John's (aka the "Hill Church") overlooking Berrysburg, PA, which is ground zero for many Rombergers including some of our clan who later settled in Neosho County. Maybe we can reconnect! Besides outstanding food and socializing, this reunion helps people share and investigate their genealogy, even as far back as before the 1753 landing in the US of the first immigrant ancestor, Bartel aka Bartholmaus. And it's just fun! If you're linked, whether you can go or not, please visit the website to learn more about: - getting your name on the snail-mail family mailing list for events via a Response Sheet you can print out - supporting thru contributions ongoing research on the family in Germany - volunteering time or talents to ensure the reunions continue - bringing younger folks into the reunion fold for the future For more details please see http://rombergers.tripod.com/rombergerallfamilyreunion/index.html Hope to see you at the Reunion! 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Sherrilltr Surnames: FRANKLIN Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.neosho/571/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking to indentify the James A. FRANKLIN buried in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. I believe he might be the son of my John E. FRANKLIN, who is also buried there. Have heard about Franklins listed in "Neosho County Cemeteries" by the Chanute Genealogical Society -- 1977: Permalia E. Franklin 1869-1904 John E. 1858-1940 James Arthur 1892-1939 Dora Mae 1897-1956 Are these names all on one headstone? Or is Dora Mae on the same stone as James Arthur? I do know that John E. and Permalia were married. Not sure if the James and Dora were. Is there anyone living near the cemetery, able to check the stones, and perhaps take a picture for me? I would be most appreciative! Is there a cemetery office at the cemetery? Is it possible to get a copy of the cemetery record for John E. Franklin and James A. Franklin? This might also tell me if an obituary was published for James. I do have an obituary for John, published in "The Parsons Sun" April 7, 1940. John died after James, so James is not listed in his father's obituaray (my theory), but I think he may be a son of John. Hoping the cemetery record would say. John E. FRANKLIN is the son of David, who died 1898 and is buried in the Thayer Cemetery. Thank you - thank you - for any helps. I live too far away, and believe James may be part of my FRANKLIN family.
