Fulton and forward. Here's a quote from one of Jenny Finney's letters: "...about my father bringing my brother Fred home to my mother. My mother's sister Alice already had 6 children when she gave birth to Fred at home. She was ill and weak after the birth. When Fred was four days old. my father went to Alice's house to visit her. He gathered up the baby and told her 'I'll take him home for Edna to take care of until you are feeling better.' Sounds OK so far, right? The only thing was that my father and mother never took him back. I don't think they never had any intention of doing so because I can remember how delighted I was that we got a new baby and can't recall any insecurity of thinking it was only a temporary arrangement. When i was born, my mother nearly died of uremic poisoning and was advised to never get pregnant again. So my father solved the problem of her wanting an! other baby by just going out and getting one. I was seven when Fred came to us. By the time Aunt Alice was well enough to want her baby returned, she was pregnant again with number 8, followed by a number 9 a couple of years later. When he came of age to do so legally, Fred had his surname changed to Fulton because he grew up using that name. I don't believe my parents ever actually adopted him, but they loved him as their own. Maybe that was out of sensitivity to his birth parents." Just let me know other info you might want. I'm not too swift with the computer, but I could mail things to you with your home address. Keep in touch. Betty Alexander Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
