My paternal grandparents lived in Coffeyville and eloped to Nowata, OK (1916) - just over the border south of Coffeyville. No waiting period, a popular place to go to elope. Grandma was preggers and no one knew........ A very nice person in Nowata Co. found the marriage certificate for me, back in 2001. juanita durham <tdurham22235@cinci.rr.com> wrote: Thank you for looking---will have to try a different city. This was just a guess--was not sure if they married in Coffeyville or not. It might have been in MO. before they moved to Coffeyville. Again---Thanks for the look-up. I looked in the Montgomery County, Kansas book of marriages from 1 Jan 1886 through 31 Dec 1900. I found a marriage for a David J Blackbourn 30 to a Sarah R Bowman 19, both of Coffeyville, on 11 Feb 1898. I found a marriage for a Richard T Blackburn 28 to a Mary A Zelgear 20, both of Coffeyville, on 5 Oct 1898. In the alpha listing of brides: Maggie Williamson married a Gauld and a Prica Williamson married a Ridenour. Sorry...
