The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Wednesday September 8, 1937 Death Calls M.G. Miller. Funeral Services Thursday For Longtime Kansan. Michael Grier MILLER, 83, a resident of Kansas for the past 53 years, died early this morning at the rural home of Mrs. Minnie Miller, North Fifth street road, after a short illness. He came here last spring form Longton and had made his home with his son, George C. Miller of rural route four, until he became ill and then was taken to the Miller home where he passed away. Survivors are eight children. They are Robert Miller, May, Okla., Frank of Longton, Clayton of Conway Springs, Eunice of Tulsa, Mrs. Florence OVERFIELD, Sycamore, George Miller, Independence, and Helen and Grace, who live with their mother. Six grandchildren also survive. Michael Grier Miller was born July 23, 1854, at Danville, Pa., and lived there until four years of age at which time he moved to Schoolcraft, Mich., with his parents. He grew to manhood at Schoolcraft and March 23, 1884, was united in marriage ot Mary BIDLEMAN at Great Bend, Kas. To this union, four children were born, three of whom with their mother preceded Mr. Miller in death. On Aug. 15, 1892, Mr. Miller and Minnie E. MILLARD were united in marriage and eight years later the family moved to Chetopa where the family home wa made until 1912 when they removed to Longton. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services will be private and held at the Potts Funeral chapel at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Harold Humbert of the First Christian church will officiate the rites. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
