The Independence Daily Reporter Monday October 4, 1937 Death Takes Mrs. S.M. Rice. Funeral Services Will Be Held Tuesday. Mrs. Stella M. RICE, 51, wife of P.C. Rice, 1100 West Main, passed away this morning at 9 o'clock at the residence following an extended illness. Death was attributed to prenicious anemia. Surviving besides the husband are two sons, Clarence Orville and Leonard Raymond of the home address, four sister, Mrs. Cora CAMPBELL, Coffeyville, Mrs. Mary E. YOUNG, rural Independence, Mrs. Florence D. BRADY of Buxton and Miss Grace DOUGLASS of this city and four brothers, W.E. Douglass, Coffeyville, A.L. Douglass, Caney, Roy L. Douglass, LaFontaine, and Harvey Douglass of Winfield. Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Potts funeral chapel. Services will be conducted by the Rev. R.O. Penick, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial will made in Mt. Hope cemetery. Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the late, Mrs. and Mrs. J.W. Douglass. She was a native of Montgomery county, having been born on a farm south of this city. She has lived in Independence since 1904. On October 20, 1910, Mr. and Mrs. Rice were united in marriage in this city. She was a member of the First Methodist church and has been active in its various departments.
