The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday August 24, 1937 Death Takes Mrs. Strickling. Funeral Services Will Be Held Wednesday. Mary Jane STRICKLING, 57, a resident of Independence for the past seven years and a former resident of Cherryvale passed away at 7:25 this morning at her home 419 So. Wald. She had been ill for the past 10 days after having suffered a paralytic stroke August 14, while visiting relatives in Chautauqua, Kansas. Mary Jane MATTOX was born in Chillicothe, Illinois, June 14, 1880. Coming to Kansas several years ago, she lived in Iola before moving to Cherryvale. In March, 1921, in Missouri she was united in marriage to William R. Strickling, who survives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock from the Potts chapel. The body will be taken to Sedan for burial. Surviving are the husband of the home; three sons, Sam ROSEBERRY and Charles ROSEBERRY of this city and Marion ROSEBERRY of Chiles, Kansas. A sister, Iva CHUBB of Howard and four brothers, John Mattox of Sedan, Francis and George Mattox of Chautauqua, and James Mattox of Madison, Kansas also survive.
