The Independence Daily Reporter Saturday September 25, 1937 Woman Killed In Accident. Mrs. J.S. Morrow Falls From Car When Door Opens. Mrs. Mary E. MORROW, 72, wife of James S. Morrow, of Cherryvale, and a sister, of Tom BIGGS, of Independence, was fatally injured about 10:30 this morning when she fell out of an automobile while enroute to Coffeyville. The mishap occurred two miels north of Coffeyville on Highway 169. According to a statement, by Mr. Morrow, who was driving the car, Mrs. Morrow was riding with her right hand on the door and was jerked out of the car when the wind blew the door open. Mr. Morrow ran back and carried his wife to the care and drove to the Southeastern hospital in Coffeyville, where physicians said she had been dead for several minutes. The body was removed to the Skinner Funral home in Coffeyville and later taken to the McDaniel Funeral home in Cherryvale. Funeral arrangements were incomplete this afternoon. Dr. W.S. HUDIBURG, county coroner, went to Coffeyville this afternoon to ascertaiin the cause of death.
