You have solved a mystery! I hadn't told you what I expected the answer to be because I didn't want to bias your response... There is a file at WorldConnect showing this death date, but with Joseph as being born in 1808, yet his census records show him born ca. 1832. Bottom line is this Joseph W. ELLIOTT is being confused with another one, one who was born in 1808, but who died between 1850 and 1857. Thanks, again, and thank you for such a speedy reply!
