The Coffeyville Journal Montgomery County Sunday September 12, 1999 Richard Murphy. Richard D. MURPHY, 84, of Nowata, died early Thurday morning (Sept. 9, 1999) at Claremore Regional Hospital. Mr Murphy was born Feb. 26, 1915, near Lenapah, to Will and Margaret (Coppie) Murphy. He grew up in Nowata and went to school there, attending Coody's Bluff School. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, and was discharged in 1945. He married Roberta Irene ROBERSON, on Feb, 9, 1946, at Independence. The couple made their hme in Nowata for most of their married lives. Mrs. Murphy preceded her husband in death on March 20, 1996. Mr. Murphy worked in construction for most of his life, and retired in 1977. Survivors include three sons, "Danny" of Universal City, Texas, Dennis of Moore, Okla., and Derek of Bartlesville; one sister, Roberta BARNES of California; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, one brothers and three sisters. Services for Mr. Murphy will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
