The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Saturday November 6, 1937 Death Takes Ralph Leonard. Longton Youth Is Victim of Pneumonia. Ralph LEONARD, 18-year-old Longton resident, died at Mercy hospital here Friday afternoon from pneumonia, after having been brought to Indenpendence early in the afternoon. Relatives of Leonard said today that he had been in ill health for a week, but his condition did not become serious until early Friday morning. Ralph Leonard was born in Victoria, Kansas, and it was at that place he attended the grade schools. Two years ago he moved with his parents to Longton, where he has since made his home. His mother, Mrs. Lula WRIGHT, is a resident of Longton, but during the past few months has been employed at a Fredonia cafe. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Congregational church in Longton with Rev. Rowe of the Federated Church in charge. Burial willbe in Elk Falls, Kans. Surviving are: The mother, Mrs. Lula Wright and a brother, Leslie Leonard, of the Neodesha C.C.C. camp, who is undergoing treatment at this time in the army hospital at Fort Riley.
