The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Wednesday July 28, 1937 Death Removes Jacob E. Smith. Prominent Cherryvale Farmer Dies Here. Jacob E. SMITH, 82, farmer of rural route four, Cherryvale, died at Mercy hospital about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon after a lengthly illness. He was admitted to the local hospital on July 19 and underwent a major operaton Tuesday morning from which he failed to rally. Besides his wife of the rural home, four children survive. They are: three sons, Perry C. of Chicago, Leon E. Smith of Danville, Ohio, Chalmers O. of Chicago, and a daughter, Florence Smith of the home address. Mrs. Smith was born at Frederick, Md., Sept. 22, 1854 and had been a farmer in the Cherryvale vicinity for the past 29 years. Funeral services will probably be held Friday afternoon at Cherryvale with burial in the Fairview cemetery. The Burns Funeral Home of Cherryvale has charge of the body.
