The Mayetta Herald Jackson County Thursday April 26, 1917 Double Wedding. Sunday afternoon, April 22, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Chapman, of the Point Pleasant neighborhood, was a scene of great pleasure and surprise as well. The guests expected one wedding, but did not look for a double wedding. Miss Mary Cutter played the wedding march as the bridal party entered the parlor, Rev. A.M. Crippen performed the ceremony that united in marriage Miss Blanche CHAPMAN to Mr. Ernest COLEMAN and Miss Vera CHAPMAN to Mr. Guy COLEMAN. Congratulations were followed by a bounteous wedding supper which was prepared entirely by one of the brides. The young ladies are the daughters, of Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Chapman and are splendid types of young womanhood. They are very attractively dressed in crepe de chine. Miss Blanche fulfilled a long cherished plan to be married in blue. Miss Vera's desire had always been a white wedding dress and the desire was gratified. The grooms are fine Christian young men and showed excellent judgment in their choice of brides. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Coleman will make their home near Holton, but Mr. and Mrs. Guy Coleman will remain in the Point Pleasant neighborhood. May these young people live long, happy, useful lives is the wish of many friends.

My paternal grandparents lived in Coffeyville and eloped to Nowata, OK (1916) - just over the border south of Coffeyville. No waiting period, a popular place to go to elope. Grandma was preggers and no one knew........ A very nice person in Nowata Co. found the marriage certificate for me, back in 2001. juanita durham <tdurham22235@cinci.rr.com> wrote: Thank you for looking---will have to try a different city. This was just a guess--was not sure if they married in Coffeyville or not. It might have been in MO. before they moved to Coffeyville. Again---Thanks for the look-up. I found a marriage for a Richard T Blackburn 28 to a Mary A Zelgear 20, both of Coffeyville, on 5 Oct 1898.
