The Independence Daily Reporter Mongtomery County Wednesday July 14, 1937 George W. Saunders Dies Near Elk City; Funeral On Friday. Geo. W. SAUNDERS, 71, of near Elk City, died at his home this morning at 7 o'clock. The funeral will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church at Elk City, and interment will be made in the Elk City cemetery. Mr. Saunders, born Aug. 24, 1865, in Rush county, Indiana, the son of Wm. and Mary Saunders, had been a resident of the Elk City community for many years.

Funeral services were held today at Coffeyville for Mrs. Sarah CARPENTER, 82, widow of John Carpenter, who died Monday after a two weeks' illness. Mrs. Carpenter had resided in Coffeyville 26 years going there from Baxter Springs. Three daughters and two sons survive.

The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday July 13, 1937 Mrs. Anna M. Zenor Dies In Washington. Word was received here today of the death of Mrs. Anna M. ZENOR, 95, longtime resident of Montgomery county, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse PITTMAN in Olympia, Washington, where she has been visiting for the past year. Mrs. Zenor before leaving this section had resided in Wayside for many years and was one of the oldest residents of this county. Mrs. C.G. CROSSON and Mrs. Sallie PAYNE of this city and Mrs. P.C. STONECIPHER of Wayside are daughters of the deceased. Funeral arrangements have not been made as yet.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday July 13, 1937 Gene Danforth. Gene DANFORTH, former Caney resident, died Sunday at his home near Yates Center. While a resident of Caney, Danforth was an official at the smelter. The wife, a daughter and a son survive.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday July 13, 1937 Mrs. T.P. Scott. Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. Maggie L. SCOTT, 72, wife of T.P. Scott and for 46 years a resident of the Coffeyville vicinity. Mrs. Scott died Sunday at her home in Coffeyville. Death was attributed to a heart disorder. A daughter and son survive with the husband.

The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Saturday July 10, 1937 Funeral Services Sunday for Jacob Epps, Who Died Here Friday Afternoon. Jacob EPPS, 76, 218 South Wald, died Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of his son, Dan Epps. Death was attributed to a stroke of paralysis. Surviving are two sons, Andrew and Dan Epps, both of Independence. His wife died here several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday morning at 9:30 from the Jackson Funeral chapel with Rev. Charles Teal officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Funeral services are to be held Monday at Kansas City for Mrs. Evelyn Sandow BREYFOGLE, 42, who died Wednesday in Los Angeles. She was a sister of Mrs. Cymbelene COLE of this city and Mrs. Wilma EDGAR of Cherryvale. A.J. BUSBY of Tulsa and Lee Busby of Cherryvale are brothers. A son, Billy SANDOW, Jr., of California, also survives.

Champ LeRoy GIBSON, 34, Negro, who suffered second degree body burns Wednesday when caught in a slide of hot ore while loading an ore car at the Ozark Smelter in Coffeyville, died Wednesday night in a Coffeyville hospital.

The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday July 8, 1937 Mrs. Matilda Tyner. Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Lucy TYNER, 79, will be held at New Albany Friday afternoon. Mrs. Tyner died yesterday after several weeks' illness. She was a resident of Fall River. A daughter survives.

Smith, who died Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John ROYSE. Another daughter and a son survive with the husband and Mrs. Royse. Burial was made at Coffeyville.

ZIMMERMAN, 72, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Zimmerman, pioneer citizen of Wilson county, who died Tuesday at the Wilson County Nursing home in Fredonia. Two sisters and two brothers survive.
