Funeral services for Janice MITCHELL, 7-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mitchell of Neodesha, Mo., were held yesterday at Neodesha. The baby died Thursday following a short illness. The parents and a brother survive.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Saturday August 14, 1937 Andrew Duggan. Andrew DUGGAN, farmer living two miles northeast of Neodesha, died at the Wilson County hospital yesterday afternoon of injuries received about noon when a team of horses he was driving on his farm, hitched to a hay rack, ran away, throwing him under the wheels of the half-loaded rack. Both legs were broken in several place and he was injured internally. It is believed the horses' nervousness was caused by fly bites.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Saturday August 14, 1937 J.M. McMullen. Funeral services were held today for John M. McMULLEN, 66, who died Friday at his home in Coffeyville after an extended illness. McMullen retired January 1, as a millwright at the Missouri Pacific shops where he had been employed 15 years. Two sons and three daughters survive.

KEELER, 69, a resident of Coffeyville several years ago, who died Thursday. During his residence in Coffeyville he was an employe of the Missouri Pacific company. The wife and five children survive.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Friday August 13, 1937 Death Takes Mrs. Osburn. Body of Former Resident to Be Brought Here. Mrs. A.C. OSBURN of Tulsa, former Independence resident, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John SCHAID in Henryetta where she had gone two weeks ago when she first became ill. Cause of death is unknown here. Mr. and Mrs. Osburn left Independence four months ago to make their home in Tulsa. Funeral arrangements are pending, but they will probably be held here Sunday, it was said today. The body is being returned to Independence by Amos and Rodrick. Surviving with the husband are three children: Mrs. Schaid, Floyd and Charles Osburn, all of Henryetta and all residents of this city before going there. Mrs. Osburn was also an aunt of Ernest Osburn and M.J. Osburn of Independence.

County Commissioners today passed a resolution confirming the appointment of Mary Maud READ of Coffeyville as assistant county director of social welfare. The appointment was made by E.A. Mattingly, county director who explained the new social welfare law requires the director to designate one of his staff as assistant to act as director when he is not available.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at Arcadia for William Henry SPRECHER, a retired attorney, who died Wednesday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. R.B. CREAGER, south of Fredonia. He was 71 years old.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday August 12, 1937 Mrs. Morton Bryant. Mrs. Florence M. BRYANT, 32, wife of the Rev. Morton Bryant of Buffalo, died at a Chanute hospital Tuesday morning. She had undergone a Caesarian operation six days ago. The husband and an infant daughter survive. Rev. Bryant is pastor of the Buffalo Christian church.

A native of Sweden, Mrs. McCoy had been a resident of Coffeyville 50 years. She died Wednesday morning after a three year illness.

The deceased formally resided in Fall River.

SHERMAN, 61, who died at her home in Elk City, Sunday night, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church in Elk City, with Rev. Graham of Independence in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery under the direction of the Denbo Funeral home. Mrs. Sherman was a life-long resident of Elk City. She was born there June 23, 1876.
