    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday August 19, 1937 Death Takes W.S. Tucker. End to Caney Farmer Comes Unexpectedly. William S. TUCKER, 60, died suddenly Wednesday evening abotu 6 o'clock in a hay field on his farm, route 1, Caney, following a heart attack. Mr. Tucker was stricken while working in the field and died before he could be removed to the house. He had complained of feeling ill during the day, his family said. Mr. Tucker was born May 10, 1877 in Hart county, Ky., and at the age of six months came to Kansas with his parents and settled on a farm in Rutland township. He resided there until about four years ago when he moved to the present home place near Caney. He was married in 1905 to Ethel MITCHELL, who died here in 1927. Surviving are six sons, Delbert of Independence, Buford, Willard and Leland of the home, Dale and William of Elk City; five daughters, Mrs. Yola BLANKENSHIP, of Independence, Mrs. Thelma BOYLE of Independence, Mrs. Athalee BLANKENSHIP of Independence, Mrs. Mabel WALTERS, of Rutland, and Miss Lucille TUCKER, of the home; three brothers, E.R. Tucker, of Rutland, Orville Tucker of Independence, Richard Tucker of Bolton; two sisters, Mrs. J.F. REEVES of Kalispell, Mont.; and Mrs. Bertha BERGY of Portland, Ore. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Potts Funeral chapel. Burial will be in Rutland cemetery.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday August 17, 1937 Wm. Mansfield Dies. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland BROWNING, 122 North Twenty-fifth, received a message today telling of the death of his cousin, Bill MANSFIELD, 19, who died at his home in Kansas City. The deceased was the son of Mrs. Earl Mansfield of Tulsa. His father preceded him in death three years ago. No details were given in the message. Funeral services were held this afternoon and burial was made in Joplin. The Mansfield family resided in Independence at 1014 South Wald until about nine years ago when they moved to Kansas City.

Funeral services were held this afternoon and burial was made at Coffeyville.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday August 17, 1937 Harry C. Wise. Private funeral services for Harry C. WISE, 65, employe of the Missouri Pacific railway telegraph department more than 47 years, who died Monday morning in a Coffeyville hospital were held today. Wise had been ill only a few days. Surviving are the wife and daughter.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday August 16, 1937 Barney Bucher Dies At Coffeyville Home Today. Barney BUCHER, 39, Coffeyville attorney who was well known here, died of heart disease at his home today. Bucher practiced law in district court here and often appeared in cases with his father before the latter's death. When the United States entered the World War, Bucher was the first Coffeyville youth to join Company A. of the 139th infantry. Bucher was graduated from the University of Kansas in 1923.

Jack died Saturday following a two weeks' illness with trench mouth and complications. The parents, four brothers and a sister survive.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday August 16, 1937 Mrs. J.M. McGuire. Mrs. Margaret Virginia McGUIRE, 76, wife of J.M. McGuire and more than half a century a resident of Caney, died Saturday morning at her home in Caney following a two-months illness. Mrs. McGuire formerly lived in Independence and obtained her schooling here. The husband and a son, Baird Lamar McGuire of Carter, Wyo., survive.
