The Potts Funeral home was called to Alva, Oklahoma today to bring back the body of a Mr. BONESTEEL, who was reported to have died there this morning. Mr. Bonesteel is the father of Mrs. Walter RICKEY of rural Independence and Mr. and Mrs. RICKEY are in Alva at this time and could not be reached this afternoon.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 from the Jefferson, Kansas, church for James Albert LEWIS, pioneer resident of this section who died at his home Monday evening. Rev. Waters, Tyro and Jefferson minister, was in charge and burial was in Fairview cemetery in Coffeyville under the direction of the Webb Funeral Home of this city.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Wednesday September 22, 1937 Funeral Thursday for Mrs. Sarah M. Rogers. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah M. ROGERS, 70, who died at her home here yesterday, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Christian church with Rev. Harold Humbert in charge. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery under the direction of the Amos-Rodrick Funeral Home. Mrs. Rogers, a resident of Independence for the past 22 years, was born Oct. 7, 1866 in Serena, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. Besides her husband, G.W. Rogers, three sons, Wilbert and Clarence of Independence, Harry of Tecumseh, Neb., one daughter, Mrs. Millie OWEN of Tulsa, Okla., one brother, Andrew DOMINY of Independence, and a sister, Rhoda OVERFIELD of Independence survive.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 21, 1937 Native Of City Dies At Home. Funeral Thursday for Miss Dorothy Daniels. Miss Dorothy DANIELS, 23, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Daniels, route two, died at the family home Monday afternoon following an illness of nine days. Death resulted from complications following a nervous breakdown. Dorothy was born June 12, 1914 in Independence and had spent her entire lifetime here. She attended Independence high school, having graduated in 1935. She is survived by her parents. Two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted by R.W. Wisner Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Jackson funeral chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 21, 1937 Mrs. Sarah M. Rogers Dies at Her Home Here. Mrs. Sarah M. ROGERS, 70, wife of G.W. Rogers, died at her home, 611 East Myrtle at 11:15 this morning following an illness of four weeks. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon. The place of the service has not been decided. The Amos-Rodrick Funeral home has charge of the body.

The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 21, 1937 Maude Bishop Dies Monday. Funeral Arrangements Await Relatives Arrival. Maude BISHOP, 61, a resident of Independence for several years passed away at Mercy hospital Monday evening at 5 o'clock after having been critically ill there since Saturday. Miss Bishop was taken seriously ill last week and it was found that her appendix had ruptured and an operation was performed Saturday. She failed to respond to treatment. The body was removed to the Potts Funeral home where it is awaiting the arrival of relatives. A brother, E. Bishop of Osage Beach, Mo., is expected here this evening, as is a neice, Mrs. H.F. CARR of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Miss Bishop was a sister of the late Mrs. Minnie TRUBY, who died here a short time ago.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 21, 1937 Death Claims Jasper Wilkins. Dies Here at Home of Daughter, Mrs. J.P. Ramey. Jasper Wilkins, 72, died at 3:05 Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.P. RAMEY, 504 North Ninth. He had been in failing health for seven years. Mr. Wilkins, a widower, came here four years ago to make his home with his daughter. He was born June 12, 1865 near St. Joseph, Mo., where he spent his earl life, later residing in Iowa and Southern Missouri. He had been a farmer for many years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. A.W. PRATHER of Council Grove, Kas., Mrs. Ray SHERBUNDY, of Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Calvin GOFORTH, of Berryville, Ark., Mrs. J.P. RAMEY of Independence and one son, Tully Wilkins of Glincaster, Colo. Two brothers, Dick of Los Angles, Calif., and Doc of Morrisville, Colo., also survive. The body is in the Jackson Funeral home pending the arrival of relatives.

The boy died Sunday afternoon following an illness of six months. A tumor had developed on the brain from the result of an accident. The parents and three brothers survive.

Mitchell, 54, a resident of that town for 17 years. He died Sunday afternoon following a three months illness. The wife, two sons and two daughters survive.

Sharpe, 708 West Laurel, underwent an emergency appendectomy Sunday morning. She is reported to be getting along nicely. Neva FANSLER, 409 South Sixteenth, underwent a major operation this morning.

BARKER announce their marriage which took place in June in Missouri. Mrs. Barker has been employed at the Independence laundry. Mr. Barker, a former Sycamore resident, is employed as a driller with the Virten-Spohnhauer company. Mr. and Mrs. Barker are at home at 401 North Eighth.
