The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 28, 1937 Charles Bennett. Charles E. BENNETT, long time resident of Cherryvale, died late yesterday at his home following a lingering illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Mrs. Earl BURNWORTH of this city is a daughter. Other survivors include two sons, Frank and Marvin Bennett of Cherryvale and another daughter, Mrs. Nellie TUGGLE of Los Angeles.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday September 28, 1937 Mrs. Nancy Thomas. Funeral services were held today at Coffeyville for Mrs. Nancy Jane THOMAS, 76 a resident of Coffeyville for 17 years, who died Sunday morning. Six children survive. The body was taken to Torrington, Wyo., for burial.
The Independence Daily Reporter Mongtomery County Tuesday September 28, 1937 Death Claims Mrs. R. Jarvais. Body of Rural Resident Is Taken to Chanute. Mrs. Roy C. JARVAIS, 30, a resident of rural Independence for four years and a native of Caney, died this morning at 3 o'clock at her home four miles east of Independence after having been ill since May. Her death was attributed to tuberculosis. Hazel Clem Brubaker was born in Caney in 1907. In 1927 at Columbus, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Roy C. Jarvais and to this union were born two sons. In 1933 the Jarvais family moved to Independence from Arkansas City. Surviving are the husband and two sons, Richard, 5, and Junioir, 9, all of the home; her father, Celm Brubaker, of Chanute and three brothers, Harry of Washington; Wallace of Chanute and Dean of California. Her mother passed away 18 months ago at Chanute. Mrs. Jarvais had been a member of the Lutheran church for several years. The body was taken directly to Chanute, but at noon today no funeral arrangements had been made.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday September 27, 1937 Death Takes Laura Argo. Funeral Tuesday at Grace Methodist Church. Mrs. Laura May ARGO, 76, died at her home at 813 West Locust street at 8:45 o'clock this morning. She had suffered a paralytic stroke last may. Mrs. Argo had lived in Independence for 12 years. She was born May 20, 1861, near St. Joseph, Mo., and with her family came to Montgomery couty in 1872, and settled in the Elk City community. Mrs. Argo had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood. Survivors include two sons, Victor N. Argo, 817 West Locust street, and J. David Argo, 813 West Locust street. A grandson, John Raymond Argo, also survives. Mrs. Argo's husband died here in March, 1935. Funeral services will be held from the Grace Methodist chruch of which Mrs. Argo was a member at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon with Rev. A.C. Stewart of Fall River, formerly of this city, in charge. Burial will be in the White cemetery at Lafontaine, under the direction of the Potts funeral home.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday September 27, 1937 Mrs. F. Secrest. Funeral Services Tuesday at Tyro Church. Frances Ellen SECREST, 75, a resident of the Tyro community for 22 years, died Sunday morning at 6 o'clock at the D.A. Parsons home, four miles north of Tyro, after having been ill for the past three weeks. Frances Ellen CRIM was born March 11, 1862 in Knox County, Missouri. She attended school in Lafayette county near Odessa, Missouri. On October 28, 1883, at Odessa, Missouri, she was united in marriage ot W.L. EDMUNDS wo died in 1888. In 1892 she was married the second time to F. G. SECREST at Fort Scott. Mr. Secrest died in 1915. It was following Mr. Secret's death that she moved to the Tyro vicinity. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternon at 2:30 form the Tryo Christian church with Rev. L.R. Hobert in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery at Fort Scott under the direction of the Joe Carinder Funeral home of Caney. The body was to be removed to the Parsons' home this evening at 6 o'clock. Surviving are two sisters and three brothers. They are: Mary E. SALING of Kansas City; Sadie E. SECREST of Coffeyville; Ed CRIM of Fort Scott; John CRIM of Wiser, Idaho, and Calvert CRIM, of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. After the service at the church Tuesday the body will be returned to the Parsons' home north of Tyro, and Wednesday monring at 10 o'clock will be taken overland to Fort Scott.
The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday September 27, 1937 Sarah M. ROGERS, daughter of Gilbert and Mary DOMINY, was born Oct. 7, 1866, near Serena, LaSalle county, Illinois; passed away at the home 611 E. Myrtle St., Independence, Kansas, Sept. 21, 1937, at the age of 70 years 11 months and 14 days. She came to Kansas in the fall of 1873 and located on afarm six miles east of Independence near where the treaty was signed in 1870. She was a resident of that community for 42 years. She was united in marriage to G.W. ROGERS, March 10, 1886 and lived on a farm near the old home on Drum Creek until 1915 then moved to 611 E. Myrtle St., Independence. In 1931 she united with the First Christian church at Independence and was a faithful member until death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, G.W. Rogers, of the home address, four children, Wilber Lee and Clarence D. Rogers, both of Independence, Harry G. ROgers of Tecumseh, Nebraska and Millie A. OWEN of Tulsa, Okla. One daughter, Elsie Irene preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. H.S. OVERFIELD and one brother A.J. DOMINY, both of Independence. Eleven grandchildren and a host of friends.

WILSO, 62, resident of Coffeyville about 40 years and proprietor of the Central Avenue garage for 15 years. Wilson died suddenly of a heart attack Friday night. Two daughers, Mrs. Howard CUER of Cherryvale and Mrs. Morris SKELTON of Pittsburg survive.

MORROW of Cherryvale, sister of Tom BIGG of this city, who was fatally injured in an automobile mishap two miles north of Coffeyville, Saturday morning, were conducted at 2:30 this afternoon at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Cherryvale. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
