Author: brianfutrel Surnames: Tanner Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.montgomery/1826.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello: Thanks for your help. I do not know if those Tanners are related. The Walter Eugene Tanner that I am researching was born near Nevada, MO, I think. He was born 1876. He was a Baptist minister. He lived near San Francisco for awhile. In about 1916, he moved to Springfield, MO. I do not know much about what happened after that. In the early 1930s, he lived in Cherryvale, KS. Someone online told me that he died in Kansas in the early 30s. I do not know if this is true. He is hard to find in the census or anywhere else. I would like to find out for sure where he died and find his obit. Thanks for your help. brian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Could they be relation to you walter? My gg grandad was also a minister and moved to Coffeyville, KS. From what I can gather, they moved around 1905-8. Just thought I would forward this on to you in case Wm. might be in the same family as your Walter. Author: rheltOK Surnames: Helt Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.montgomery/1822/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Several, several years ago I posted a request about the location of the grave of my great-grandfather, Chester Mansford Helt. I nice man from LasVegas responded with the location. Two moves later, I can't find the info, I can't remember the county, the name of the cemetary or even the man's name who gave me the info other than he was from Las Vegas. So, I start from square one, again. And I promise not to lose the info! I'm looking for the location of the grave of Chester Mansford Helt. Was last seen on the Cherryvale Township Census, June 1880. Wife Mary Alice Pattee Helt; last child born to Chester Mansford Helt was Earl Helt, born May 26, 1888. Mary Alice went on to claim land in the land run of 1889 in Oklahoma. Mary Alice appears on the first territorial census of Oklahoma as a widow. Family ledgend is that Chester died when a tree fell on him. I do remember that the grave is either in Montgomery or Labette countys in Kansas. No vital (death) record with the State of Kansas. Chester was born August 31, 1842 in Helt township, Indiana.
