    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Saturday October 30, 1937 A.E. Gees. A.T. "Tony" GEES, who owned and managed the Caney Pharmacy for more than 30 years, died yesterday afternoon at Caney following an illness of five months. The mother, five sisters and a brother survive. Funeral services at the Sacred Heart church in Caney. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery at Walnut.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Friday October 29, 1937 Mrs. Minnie McMeen. Funeral services were held today at Coffeyville for Mrs. Minnie A. McMEEN, 65, a resident of that town for 45 years. She died Wednesday night following an extended illness. Two daughters and a son survive.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Friday October 29, 1937 Mrs. Anna BAILEY of rural Independence was born in 1891 in Pickens county, Alabama. She moved to Taft, Okla., in 1908, where she resided until 1928 at which time she moved to Independence. Mrs. Bailey passed away here Oct. 25. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m in Taft, Okla.

Naomi TODMAN has been dismissed after having undergone a tonsillectomy. Maxine MEYER of rural Independence has been dismissed after having had a tonsillectomy. George WESTON, 920 West Maple, underwent a major operation today. Alfred BADEN, who has been in the hospital for several days following an appendectomy is reported to be getting along very well at this time and will probably be dismissed the last of the week.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Thursday October 28, 1937 G.W. Rogers Dies Today. End Comes After Illness of Four Years. G.W. ROGERS, 74, a resident of Independence for 22 years passed away at his home, 611 East Myrtle, this afternoon at 1:30 after an illness of four years. The body was removed to the Amos-Rodrick Funeral home. No funeral arrangements have been made. Surviving are four children, Wilbur of rural Independence, Clarence of Independence, Mrs. Frank OWEN of Tulsa and Harry Rogers of Nebraska. Mrs. Rogers preceded her husband in death September 21.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday October 28, 1937 Coffeyville Tot Drowns In Oil Drum. Billy Eugene ANDERSON, 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Anderson of Coffeyvill was drowned early this afternoon in an oil drum near his parent;s home. The child was found after a brief seach in the drum which which contained 29 inches of water. Police advanced the theory that the boy had toppled into the drum while playing.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday October 28, 1937 Mrs. C.V. Jordan. Mrs. Ruby JORDAN, wife of C.V. Jordan of Coffeyville, died Tuesday night in an Arkansas City hospital after an extended illness. A son survives with the husband.

George CARY, 77, a painter at Coffeyville for about 40 years, died Tuesday at Sedro-Woolley, Wash., where he and his wife moved about two years ago. Five daughters and a son survive. Mrs. Mary WILLIAMS of Coffeyville and Mrs. Ada LEWIS of Cherryvale, sisters, are among the surviving relatives.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Wednesday October 27, 1937 Rites For An Early Settler. Mrs. Sarah Brown Laid to Rest Tuesday. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ann Helms BROWN, 77-year-old resident of rural Independence, who died Monday evening at her home west of Independence were held Tuesday afternoon from the Potts chapel. Rev. Simmons of Elk City was in charge and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Elk City. The deceased was bron October 12, 1860, in Newton county, Indiana, and in 1879 came to Kansas and settled in this section. She had been a resident here for the past 57 years. Her death was attributed to heart disease. Her second husband, E.H. BROWN, preceded here in death on January 24, 1937. Surviving are: a son, James W. HELMS of rural Elk City; a daughter, Mrs. Jesse D. WOLFE of rural Independence and a twin sister, Mrs. Martha CROSSON of rural Independence.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Tuesday October 26, 1937 Mrs. A. Bailey Dies Monday Night After Illness of One Week. Mrs. Ann BAILEY, 46, died at her home, 3 1/2 miles southwest of Independence, Monday night at 10:10 after an illness of one week. The cause of death was not disclosed. Mrs. Bailey was born in Gordo, Ala., in 1891. She had been a resident of Independence for several years. Surviving are her husband, D.E. Bailey; three sons, Geroge, Armor and Tillman of the home address; one daughter, Isabelle LITTLETON of Wichita; three brothers, Onnie JOHNSON, Richard Johnson and Quincy LIGONS of Independence; four sisters, Dollie HOWARD, Betty Mae LIGONS, Independence, Georgia JOHNSON of Okmulgee, Okla., and Juanita SLAUGHTER of Broken Arrow, Okla. The body is in the Jackson Funeral Home pending arrangements.

MOORE of Fredonia and at one time a resident of that city, died unexpectedly at his home in Fostoria, Ohio, Thursday. Burial was made at Carthage, Mo. Four brothers and two sisters survive with the mother.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Monday October 25, 1937 Death Removes J.W. Bradshaw. Dies Unexpectedly of Heart Attack in Sleep. James William BRADSHAW, 70, 830 North Sixth, died in his sleep early this morning following a heart attack. Mr. Bradshaw appeared in good health when he retired last night, his family reported. Mr. Bradshaw had been a resident of Independence for 17 years, having moved here from Parsons. He was born in Kentucky on March 13, 1867 where he spent his early life. He later moved to St. Paul where he was united in marriage Feb. 12, 1895. He was a dairyman by trade. Mr. Bradshaw was a member of the Catholic church at St. Paul. Besides his wife, two sons, John of Independence, W.J. of Kansas City; four daughters, Mrs. Frank MILLER, rural Independence, Mrs. E. H. CONNELY of Parsons, Mrs. Raymond JAKOBE of Kansas City and Mrs. Hermis MARTIN of Turner, Kansas, survive. Mr. Bradshaw also has four brothers and four sisters living. The body is in the Jackson Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
