    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday December 2, 1937 Mrs. G. W. Thompson Dies At Her Home in Fredonia. Mrs. G.W. THOMPSON, mother of E.A. Thompson of Independence, died at 7:10 last night at her home in Fredonia, following an illness of two years. Heart disease was given as the cause of death. Besides the son here, her husband, two sons, C.W. and V.A. of Fredonia, and two daughters, Stella Thompson and Mrs. H.A. O'DELL of Fredonia, survive. Funeral arrangements are pending word from a brother in California.

There is a file at WorldConnect showing this death date, but with Joseph as being born in 1808, yet his census records show him born ca. 1832. Bottom line is this Joseph W. ELLIOTT is being confused with another one, one who was born in 1808, but who died between 1850 and 1857. Thanks, again, and thank you for such a speedy reply! Funeral services will be held at Sedan this afternoon for Denny ROBBINS, 75, former Independence resident, who died Tuesday night at the home of a stepson, Clint Robbins in Tulsa. Burial is to be made in the St. Charles cemetery, northeast of Sedan beside the remains of Mrs. Robbins.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday December 2, 1937 M.E. McGlassion. Funeral services for Murel E. McGLASSION, 36, former Coffeyville resident, were held this afternoon at Angola. McGlassion, who died Tuesday at Hot Springs, Ark., was a brother of Earl McGlassion of this city and a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. McGlassion of rural liberty. Two other brothers and four sisters also survive.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon for Mrs. Arminda MICHAEL, 88, widow of the late William Michael, who died at the home of her son, A.W. Michael near Havana, yesterday. Burial will be made in the Havana cemetery. Mrs. Michael had resided on the farm where she passed on since 1885.

    3. The Independence Daily Reporter Montgomery County Thursday December 2, 1927 James W. Sponable. James William SPONABLE, 97-year-old Civil war veteran, died Tuesday night at his home in Cherryvale. Since June 17, Sponable had been bedfast, suffering from injuries in a fall while walking with the aid of crutches. He was a native of Ohio and served with the 8th Ohio Infantry, Company C and later with the 164th infantry. Besides the widow, two children, Mrs. May Caudle of Coffeyville and Harry M. Sponable of Kansas City, Kansas, survive. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
